It's a really tricky comp this. Not so much picking the right teams, but in my case avoiding getting banned before it's run its course. I failed miserably at it last season, like a young pup of a striker I started with a rattle and surged to the top of the charts, only to find myself kicking my heels on the sidelines in frustration for too many periods afterwards. Like the young striker who was "unlucky with injuries" though, I was unlucky with bans I think
. This despite the fact that someone with my "puts his foot in" posting style is always going to pick up his fair share of yellows, I felt one or two of the reds for effectively not giving the ball back instantly were a bit unfortunate. Anyway, I've given myself a good talking to this time around, and improving my disciplinary record is up there in the iold forum priorities for me.
Given all of that, it's a very tricky first week:
Man City won't lose at Spurs and will probably win, West Ham ditto at Villa, the next five in the list could literally go either way, and while Chelsea ought to win they bhave lost four on the bounce so couldn't be backed with confidence. I think we'll draw with Arsenal but it could go either way, leaving the one certainty on the card Man Utd to beat Newcastle by at least two clear goals. Home against a promoted club first game of the season? No problem sir Alex.
There's my selection then. It's the Mancs.
