Being gay, for so long a time isnt classed as normal, and even in these times regardless of rights is still classed as not normal. So, is that paranormal or just fetish?

It was probably the toaster left on, or your dad (who was pretending he was off the fags) having a quick smoke when you lot were in bed.

Really, it is idiotic to believe in ghosts. You were a kid and all kids are stupid but you should now realise this.

With all due respect Big Niall......
It's like they say 'sometimes, unless people experience it for themselves they won't believe in it...'
I think you are lucky not to have experienced it.
...it isn't pleasant to say the least.

My dad has a closed mind on it as well.
The smell of tobacco was uncanny. Sometimes it was so strong my mum would ask us if we'd had someone round who was smoking.
I saw the spirit of the man anyway and children are certainly not stupid!

Even now I am usually aware of spirits and I hate it!
More recently we were in my great aunt's house helping with a clear-out and the 'presence' in the front bedroom was so great I had to get out of the room!!
My aunt told me that her father -in -law died in that room and my mum had an experience in there which they didn't tell me about....but it was only after my experience that she told me.

When we die our spirits leave our bodies and I believe ghosts are the spirits that, for some reason, hang around here where the people once lived.
I am a christian and I know that the supernatural is very dangerous and should be avoided.
The paranormal, sometimes can't be avoided and we can experience stuff that we may not choose to.

Ive got other stuff to say but am going out and am running late.....  :D

is the christian faith not extremely supernatural in nature?

resurrection from the dead, magic, holy ghosts, miraculous virgin births, talking fiery bushes, visitations and apparitions, etc etc etc

ghosts seem fairly ordinary after all that

I must be a Fu*king ghost whisperer 'cause I've definitely seen two and possibly three "ghosts". the most definite sighting was in Calangut India. One evening I was sitting on the back porch of a cottage I was renting when I saw this Indian woman walking towards one of the wells that served the small fishing village my cottage was situated in.

When she got to the well instead of lowering a bucket to draw some water the woman stood up on the small wall that surrounded the well and jumped in ! . Holy f'uck ! I shouted to my mates in the cottage and legged it to the well . A lot of local villagers attracted by the commotion came running and when I explained what I'd seen they re-assured me ( :D  ) that what I'd seen was just the ghost of a girl who promised in marriage to a man she hated had jumped into the well some 20 years earlier. She apparently made an appearance a couple of times a year .

Needless to say I quit sitting on the back porch of my cottage .

Thurrock Paranormal.

By talking out of your a'rse I was referring to your use of the word "paranormal" to designate anything that is "beyond normal". That would include anything in the natural or social domain; anything that has been explained and is able to be experienced but which does not conform to expectation. If it is to have any meaning then it should be used to describe claims of entirely unexplained phenomena.

Both don't have evidence to prove their existence or non existence, and faith can also be belief without proof.  So technically ghosts are about faith too, just non religious faith :D.

Not for people who have actually witnessed them, or felt them in their presence. A person can only be extremely narrow or closed minded to dismiss the existence of them. If scientist can prove in theory that there are worm holes in space that can rip and distort time, alternate realities and such, singularities etc etc, then what is so far fetched about ghosts if all we are is energy formed through a chemical reaction?

Scientists have proved NONE of the stuff you mention. They are theories.

Why haven't they taped this then. They'd make a fortune. Why not get a bunch of critics sit them there and when this happens we'll say we're wrong.

I have never heard of an atheist seeing one and then being converted into believing something. It is always somebody who believes in the after life which suggests it is bollox.
