Picked up something the other week to alleviate the boredom of repetitive bus or tube journeys.

Guy Brownings "Never Push When it Says Pull" a book of small rules for little problems.

e.g. If you're asking for directions never pick on people who look starved of social interaction. As they never go anywhere they won't know how to get anywhere but that won't stop them from having an hour long conversation, reading your entire road atlas and settling down in your back seat and sharing your flask of coffee.

Currently reading Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi.

Very different from how Disney portrayed it ! A kids book with a sadist kind of theme, for instance Chapter 4 with the Talking Cricket:

"Let me tell you, for your own good Pinocchio," said the Talking Cricket in his calm voice, " that those who follow that trade always end up in the hospital or in prison."

"Careful, ugly Cricket ! If you make me angry, you'll be sorry!"

"Poor Pinocchio, I am sorry for you."

"Why?"

"Because you are a puppet and, what is much worse, you have a wooden head."

At these last words, Pinocchio jumped up in a fury, took a hammer from the bench, and threw it with all his strength at the Talking Cricket.
Perhaps he did not think he would strike it. But, sad to relate, my dear children, he did hit the Cricket, straight on its head.
With a last weak "cri-cri-cri," the poor Cricket fell from the wall, dead !

I bet this doesn't get read in schools these day ! :D

Lads, fully recommend the book 'Three cups of tea' by Greg Mortenson.

Very thought provoking as well as an excellent read. Its available at Waterstones by L1.

This sums it up way better than I can, but as a donantion of money is made with every purchase, please buy it - you wont be disappointed.
