Absolutely shocking performance. While there is merit in the criticism of Capello's tactics and team selection, there was more than enough there to beat Algeria. To me it's down to the mentality of the players because they looked fecking uncomfortable; too much expectation-pressure and not enough leeway from press and public. The booing was shameful. It can only be a hindrance to the players and it certainly doesn't make the fan-experience any more enjoyable - and when you've gone to such an effort to get there, why not try to enjoy it come what may instead of being a miserable git? ??? There's a time and a place to give an honest opinion but open expressions of anger and disdain do nobody any good.

Next game is a must win. Drop the poor performers and put in players who are willing to perform. Rooney has to be dropped, he was awful. Heskey also. Lampard is one of the most over rated players there are. He scores goals for chelsea because quality players are creating them for him, when he has to work for it though, as he has shown in many england games, he is below average. John Terry, since losing the captaincy looks, well, cack. He just doesnt look interested.

Capello has to go for it in the next match by making the most of players that he has. Gerrard attacking as he does for liverpool with Barry or anyone other than lampard to hold the midfield. Joe Cole on the left and Lennon on the right. We have to go for it. Im just tired of watching the same ego's running around doing sod all.

you all bought the hype yet again. England are not contenders and never have been in my life time. They will beat Slovenia and I still think they'll make the quarters but that's their level.

Heskey is rubbish (I said this when he was at LFC too and some here spoke drivel about him being strong).

SG needs a player like Alonso to play well, Scholes is probably the closest England have but he's not there.

I said before the tournament that SG and Lampard cannot play together , both good players but a terrible partnership, always have been but chumps keep calling for them to be selected. They were lousy at last world cup and didnt even qualify for the euros, yet the media say they can win this?

They'll get out of the group though.

This is exactly what I mean. Yes wayne your right, point well made. Also nice how they have spent a small fortune to turn up for that match to support you lot. The trip itself, the hotel, the tickets. You know wayne, the kind of thing that they will spend the next year or so paying off through working everyday in real jobs, but no, no your right, how dare they boo at a bunch of overpaid pr!cks who cannot do a simple thing like pass a ball or get a shot on target.

Idiot !

England are quite comfortably the worst side in the whole tournament and Clive Tyldesley's and Townsends insistence on the fault lying firmly at the feet of Capello and his tactics .......after championing him as the best manager England have ever had throughout the qualifiers was nothing short of disgraceful ..... This thing about "England expects " has to be put to bed  ??? as most of us are well aware that England are inept when compared alongside the technically superior teams such as Brasil ,Argentina ,Holland ,and you can even add Mexico to that equation ..... quite simply the English  players are ridiculously inferior to most of Europe when it comes to something as essential as retaining the ball  and passing in its most simplistic form
Saying that I thought Carragher was Man of The Match without a shadow of a doubt, especially given the times he had to cover for the so overrated Terry ,as for  Johnson he should steer well clear of defending its frightening at times how easy he is skinned   ,upfront Rooney was woeful alongside the cumbersome  Heskey
England's best pairing would have obviously been Crouch and Defoe two players familiar with their roles at Club level

At one point tonight Tyldesleys comments on Gerrards form was laughable "This is not the Gerrard who wore the Red shirt of Liverpool last season " he remarked ....totally ignoring the fact that this was exactly fucking Gerrard last season ..........

Exactly.

What makes it worse is the fact that the media in this country picks the team. We get one player who can do the basics and his price shoots through the roof. He instantly commands a huge transfer fee and wages to go with it. Look at how Beckham is adored. He can pass a ball and take a free kick. And yet, he is revered.

When it comes to international matches, the managers always pick the big names. The names that the media pressure the manager into picking. As long as the media do this, we wont have another english manager for a long time.
