Does anyone know why agents have come about? My understanding is that some players felt unable or unwilling or felt others could negotiate better than them.

Also at what stage of their career to they get on?

Some agents are failed players.

My understanding is that you can have multiple layers of agents. For example if you were buying a player from Israel the chances are someone has recommended him to someone at your club so he is an agent.

Then the guy at the club can become an agent and you may need an interpreter so he also becomes an agent. The layers can be numerous and Terry Venables has used this system many times.

The buyer pays the agent who is then meant to pay the club but of course after taking his and anybody elses cut out.

TV did the dirty on an agent and didnt pay him when the agent went to jail for a tax fraud and to think he was an England manager and the FA still allows him to operate.

Believe his ban preventing him from running a company is about to run out at the end of the year, nice guy!!!!
