From a freekick, the defending team player kicks the ball back to his keeper....who doesn't touch the ball, before it goes into the net....

What's the decision by the ref ?

Go on, what's your answer.....

The defending team's free kick. And a player from the defending team kicks it back...

And I assume direct free-kick In which case, rightly or wrongly, I go with what my post said originally which is corner - like Bammo. I would never claim to know all the subtleties of the rules, if the ball goes straight in from an indirect free-kick I believe it is a goal-kick. Personally I'd love the answer to be goal because any team playing a free-kick back to the keeper deserves to concede

EDIT : actually you need to review your wording more because the defending side from a free-kick is not the side taking it! That's partly why I'm apprehensive about answering it, because it looks like it may be a trick question. Surely the defending team is defined by being the team defending against the free-kick and not the team taking it.................

if the opposing team were the Mancs then it'd be a goal to utd. anyone else, it'll be a corner

Agree on that, I kinda assumed the defending team is usually the team WITHOUT the ball!

Sheesh...fair point mate....

Team A is awarded the free kick in front of their own goal. The free kick is to be taken from a position 5 yards inside the box. A player from Team A passes the ball back to his keeper, who misses it, and it goes into the back of the net. The keeper was - at the time - facing away from the ball, even though the referee had blown his whistle for the match to proceed.

Clear enough ?

Actually, in that instance the evertonian kicked it back, but it was after an injury and the ref told him just to pass the ball back to our keeper.

It's a corner to the opposing team, and if it isn't then you've got the wrong answer. :D
