so with the england dream team being decided on saturday 9.30pm on channel four, i thought it would be interesting to see who the members of this forum would have in their all time england eleven. ??? stick to a 4-4-2 formation please and also pick a manager to manage the side.

it will be interesting to hear people's opinions on the subject. i'm sure members of different eras will agree to disagree! my eleven is as follows.

GK Gordon Banks

RB  Jimmy Armfield
CB  Jack Charlton
CB  Bobby Moore
LB  Ray Wilson

RM  Stanley Matthews
CM  Duncan Edwards
CM  Bobby Charlton
LM  Tom Finney

CF  Jimmy Greaves
CF  Gary Lineker

MANAGER= Sir Alf Ramsay

I'm gonna wait for the programme.

There are so many to choose from.  Owen looks like he could eclipse all records for England, concerning goals scored and number of caps.  In years he may be spoken about as the greatest striker.  I mean Roger Hunt won a World Cup but he isn't in the running with Greaves, Shearer, Lineker in the queue ahead of him.

Hmmmm.....not sure.  Agree with the strikers Lineker and Shearer.  Gascoigne a definite.  What a player.  The things with polls like this is that Tom Finney and Stanley Matthews never had the advantage of the telly so nobody saw much of them.  Not like Golden Bolloc*s Beckham.
