International Football/Football World Wide - General Discussion

Watching NZ Women against GB Women, the opening event at the Olympics. It's been alright so far.

Anyone out there care about football at the Olympics?

Personally I think that foootball shouldn't be an Olympic sport, but as a Kiwi, I'm looking forward to watching both our Womens and Mens team compete - New Zealanders don't get to see our teams play an awful lot of international football.

I'm enjoying the chance to catch this game, then hitting the sack for a few hours before I catch as much of the Roma friendly as I can fit in around work.

I cannot understand Bale, he pulled out of the GB team due to injury and then plays for Spurs against MLS and not being disrespectful to Wales but he is not going to get too many chances of playing in an International tournament.

hope suarez gets through the senegal game without getting injured, the senegalese are a bit rash in the tackle, bellamy was lucky not to do his cruciate there.
it would just be our luck for luis to pick up a long term injury in a meaningless glorified u23 tournament.

Bellamy has been comfortably the best player in all GB's games thus far ,followed easily by Joe Allen's impressive stint as DM . I actually think they could maybe
surprise Uruguay if they put in a workmanlike performance and get the shackles on Suarez early enough .....Its a big maybe mind  :;):

Brazil beat New Zealand 3-0.

That Neymar looks like quite the player doesn't he?

I'd imagine Pearce will have us playing the old fashioned English game.

Congratulations team GB ,Pearce got his tactics just about spot on ,and Allen was at his combative best and  looks so comfortable with the ball .
I think Lodeiro was introduced far too late for Uruguay ,to make any marked difference ,and only Suarez looked interested ,all in all it was a poor
performance from the Uruguayans ,how Tabarez must have hankered for a player of Pereira's ability or a defender as solid as Lugano .

Delighted for Stuart Pearce ,and I hope they go all the way to the final  .
