The betting thread

Hey everyone, was browsing the forum for a betting thread and couldn't find one. I don't mind the odd flutter on a game now and then and I know a few others on here don't either (Dundalk and Nanny  :D )

Was thinking we could have a thread dedicated to such a thing. Hints, tips and bets you've put on yourself.

Just thought I'd give it a go and see who of you would be willing to have a thread such as this so here goes...
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

you may regret this... but, here's some decent outsider tips for the oscars I've had:

Best Director - Gus Van Sant (Milk) 25/1
Everyone is talking about Slumdog millionaire but Gus Van sant has been loved for years but always makes off-centre films. This is probably his last commercial film so the oscar panel could commend him for it

Best Film - Milk (25/1)
Same as above reason

Best supporting actress - Taraji P Henson (The curious case of Benjamin Button)
I can't see Cate Blanchett or Brad Pitt winning their actor/actress noms at the oscars but supposedly the film deserves the accolades and this is the best chance.

(I can see me posting in this thread a lil bit lol)

Can I just say, massive money on Taraji P Henson today, in from 20s to 8s with some firms

Best tip you will ever get, is never back a 0-0 draw. always back a no goalscorer. If someone wins 1-0 with an own goal then your no goalscorer bet is still there.

I've just found what I think is a fantastic price on Betfair. I"m no doubt going to bock it by putting it up here but I think it's stupendously good.
It's Chelsea to finsih top london club this season. To me their only rival is obviously Arsenal, and Chelsea are currently five points ahead of the gooners (although admittedly Chelsea play Villa Away int he next match while Arsenal play Sunderland at Home). Arsenal do though have to go to both Ma Utd and Liverpool, while Chelsea have only the Emirates to visit out of their big four matches.

Anyway I'd have Chelsea as very strong favourites to finish above Arsenal from here. They're not though   ???

The odds are 1.81 Arsenal,  2.9 Chelsea, and bigger the others.

You can even get 1.23 Villa to be top midlands club, or 1.94 Man Utd to be top Northwest club (I know but they're 1.2 to win the Premiership, just saying).

Anyway, don't say I never give you anything will you. Simply register an account and pick the free money off the tree.

So having I hope banked a bit of free money with Villa to be top midlands club, you might also look at top english goalscorer in the Prem. Favourite (on 10 goals) is Agbonlahor at 2.68. Seems a bit short to me though when Gerrard, Lampard and Bent are all on 9. Gerrard or Lampard has to be the pick to go past the Villa man, and you can have 8.4 Gerrard, or 9.2 Lampard. If you think the Spurs man will get enough game time to do it, he's 10.5. I quite fancy Lampard in a Hiddink inspired Chelsea, to be rejuvenated enough to score four or somore goals which might be enough to take it. The prices for both him and Stevie look big to me.

is it the same if you back first past the post mate, even if the horse is disqualified later you are still first past the post, or over the jumps if the jockey falls and the horse finishes first
