If you bring in genuine quality which to be fair up to now we have, then the situation is manageable.
If we sign a top DM we won’t be far away next year

Any way you look at it, clearing 9 players, 6 of them midfielders in one window under the same manager could be problematic. I’m all for the ripping off the bandaid quickly but still, we need some continuity even if it’s just in the locker room.

I like Thiago, and hope he stays. But would we really miss him if he left?

Hes a luxury player and spent most of last season on his *****, injured.

Certainly picks up injuries but he started the 4th most games from our midfielders last year. The longer contracts of Fabinho and Henderson were more a problem but Saudi have bailed us out. I'd rather Thiago stay this year and leave when his contract expires next summer but if he wants to go there is no point hanging onto him.

Jones should play much more this season. And Mac Allister and Szoboszlai will play much more than Ox and Ketia. So we're not in a bad place. Just need to make sure we get replacements for Henderson and Fabinho.

Starts from our midfielders last season.

Fabinho - 40
Henderson - 29
Elliott - 25
Thiago – 22
Jones - 13
Milner - 12
Bajcetic - 11
Oxlade-chamberlain - 5
Keita - 5
Melo - 0

There does seem to be a dearth of high quality established DMs who we could get and come straight into the side. If all the rumours over the last few weeks are true, Klopp has identified Lavia as the one he wants. He's 19 and only played 20 odd senior games and will cost around £50mil supposedly. One hell of a call from Klopp if it goes through but we've seen him do similar things at Dortmund.

We can afford to pay top dollar for the right man. We've recovered £52 million on the sale of Fab and Hendo, throw in another £50 million and suddenly we have sufficient for a great player.

Imagine we'd bought Bellingham then this happened....

I think the 2 signings are brilliant especially for the price. In what's suppose to be the biggest rebuild in Klopps era we've brought in 2 players at a combined cost of £96m. We have 2 weeks before the season starts, and are praying we sign a inexperienced 19 year old CDM who was part of a poor team that got relegated last season.

We need a experienced monster for that role, someone like Kimmich. We've lost alot of leaders and fighters this window so we need to bring in a player used to winning to take the team forward.

The silence from Anfield is deafening. Are the Hendo and Fab deals even confirmed?

Before the season even ended we were repeatedly being linked to Thuram, Kone, Gravenberch, Veiga, etc. I think this was the first real mention of Szoboszlai. It was 28 June.

Liverpool exploring move for Dominik Szoboszlai of RB Leipzig. #LFC met his camp this week; latest attacking mid to be considered. Unclear if it develops due to price but is desired profile. Unrelated to potential Carvalho loan

4 days later on 2 July he was officially announced as an LFC player.

I have no idea who Klopp and the recruitment team are eyeing up to replace Henderson and Fabinho but I'm glad they aren't broadcasting it to appease fans.

That's true I'd rather not share to everyone who we're going after, as long as we do actually bring someone of course. On the other hand, for real what's going on with Fabinho? I think Hendo is officially gone right? But Fabinho hasn't been with the squad for some time now but nothing official about him leaving still.

I read yesterday that Fabs move was being delayed over his dogs  only to read a few hours later that it wasn't.  Bayern are reportedly interested so could be something there holding it up his end.  Both though are dragging on a bit to long now along with a 3rd signing.

Reckon he's our player before the end of the week.

Southampton have turned down opening offer from Liverpool for Romeo Lavia. #LFC proposal - thought to be worth around £37m - rejected by #SaintsFC as they seek fee in region of £50m. Personal terms for 19yo Belgium midfielder not an issue

Apparently Chelsea are also monitoring the Lavia situation as it looks like Brighton are sticking to their guns in wanting £100m for Caiceido.

£50 million for an untested 19 year old is massive when we already have a number of excellent youngsters. £100 million for Caiceido is cuckoo land.

Sure I read somewhere that City have a buy back clause for 40m, don't get Southampton wanting more if he can be bought back for less.
