I think you've hit the nail on the head.

I love Klopp but I don't trust his timing...He messed up with the defensive setup..with the holding MF..All previous windows were out of sync..even his subs are late :D

Again with the diatribe.
Let me put this as clear for you as I possibly can. I never claim to have any inside or solid knowledge about the inner workings of our deals. In fact it was you who claimed I had  :nod  of to which I responded with what is contained in your last quote. Apparently we're trying to speed up the Keita transfer, according to the Telegraph: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/01/07/liverpool-hoping-speeding-naby-keitas-transfer-rb-leipzig-following/

Keita and VVD were last summer's business and were supposedly happening no matter what happened with Coutinho.
Where's Coutinho's replacement?

We are not signing anyone in Jan so get used to it, only stupid clubs with no ambition sell their best players in January, oh wait........

let’s just pray we can somehow come 4th without a playmaker

It is a repeat of last season! We have a good run to Christmas, Mane got injured and our defence started making basic errors. We knew for us to compete we needed reinforcements.. and Klopp said he had faith in the players we had and what happened? we won absolutely nothing and struggled to get 4th.

This year will be harder because Arsenal and Spurs are desperate for that 4th spot and the gap is alot tighter.

We NEED a playmaker otherwise we won't have champions league football next year, it's that simple!

I know we have lost Coutinho but at least we have gained Van Dijk which is a mjor plus. If we had no Van Dijk then i would be panicking a lot. Defensive way he will solidify us to an extent and offers aerial threat in attack.

I feel attacking wise we still will be good but not as eloquent as we are when Coutinho played. We will struggle at times but remember we have Salah.
Its not all doom and gloom we still have good players here.
If we can get Keita in early i would be chuffed.

To me it's more the signals the club are sending out by selling our best player and not bending over backwards trying to replace him. It's not the actions of a club desperate to win things imo.

Okay say everyone accepts that, now where is his replacement?

I'm sure Klopp will find an adequate replacement or replacements.

Mate, Klopp will never rush out and panic buy. That's not to say he hasn't got a few players he wants, but if he can't get them now then he'll wait until the summer. That's just how it is.

I'd love to see us sign Lemar now...but I imagine he'll arrive in the summer, along with a new keeper, defenders and striker.

Looks like a few people had been on the happy juice last night so let's hope you slept well!

I learned 2 things yesterday:
1. That Coutinho paid 11.5 million of his own money to make up the Liverpool valuation.
2. That Couts was determined to leave now in case he either got injured during the rest of the season or Barcelona bought someone else.

Under those circumstances it wasn't the club cashing in but a player determined to leave.

Now, this doesn't happen at Citeh, Chelsea or United because the clubs are established EPL winners and CL winners/contenders.
Liverpool are neither so our players do have dreams of moving to 'bigger clubs'. LFC is not their final move or ultimate club.
If RM come in for Salah in 12 months, we have a problem. Similarly if Bayern Munich come knocking on Mane's door.

What Liverpool have got to do now is NOT panic, but spend the money wisely and bring in a BIG name to replace Couts. If we can do that then we demonstrate our determination to push into the european top echelons  and become equal status with RM, Chelsea, PSG in terms of credibility.

Don't waste the money FFS on another Carrol or Balotelli. We paid 32 million for Benteke, right? Take your freakin' time and get the right players.

By the way, anyone who thinks we didn't buy Keita as replacement for Coutinho is deluding themselves.

Mate, yes we are only 3 points off second place but we are also only 3 points away from being dumped out of the top 4 as well. If Spurs beat Everton at Wembley next Saturday and we lose to City the following day there's a good chance we will be outside the CL places. Thats how fine the margins are at the top of the table.
So even with Coutinho we were only keeping pace with everyone else, our rivals have plenty of top players themselves (Pogba, Kane, Hazard, Sanchez, De Gea, Kante, Ozil etc etc).
Would Lemar or any other top player want to sign for a club not in the CL? Especially the type of club that has a habit of selling its best player?
It's bad enough losing your star man when everything is so finely balanced at the top of the table but if the likes of Joyce and Bascombe etc are right and we aren't even planning on bringing in a replacement then we are just tempting fate imo.
Everyone just seems to assume that we'll attract all these big names in the summer, what happens over the next 4/5 months will have as much of a say on who we buy as the money we have in our bank account. No CL football then no big names.
