They possibly are exciting - it's what results they produce that matters and its keeping Sturridge fit and Coutinho at the club if we don't get CL.

Results matter Ben , trophies matter , playing lovely football is great but it's meaningless without getting somewhere.

If we don't get into the CL then it's meaningless. No point playing tikki takki lovely stuff if you can't defend set pieces , not point having exciting players like Coutinho if you are soft in the middle. Until BR sorts out the obvious weak areas then we won't go anywhere regardless of how exciting Coutinho and Sturridge are.

And that 9 points gained us one place

We moved forward one place in the league but went backwards in the cup comps - you can call improvement - ill call it not good enough just like the previous league campaigns. It's clutching at straws tbh - we are battling around 6/7/8 places for the last couple of seasons and will again this season. Unless the improvement gets us CL football then it's not good enough IMO. The owners stated that we needed CL football , a manager was fired for not getting CL football - I'm guessing the goal posts from the owners have changed.

Sell the club and sack Rodgers!

Would be delighted if they sold the club and replaced BR with an established manager.

Yep they sacked the person who sorted the fees out - Comolli. Then sacked the manager who got us back into Europe and our first trophy in 6 years - the reason - because he didnt get CL. BR didn't get CL not did he get any sort of European qualification nor any appearances at Anfield South nor did he actually win anything - yet he didnt suffer the same fate.

Well I thought we would be well placed to get Willian but looks like we were not prepared to raise our bid and I can understand that. He is not worth the price Spurs are paying and overall, I'm not too fussed we have missed out on him. We have another 13 days left. Let's see what we can do

rodgers is doing a good job, whats letting us down is our inability to close out deals.
then again who`s to say we are really in for these players

Kenny wanted the players and Comolli got them and sorted out the fees and wages as a DoF does. He wasnt responsible for the budget that was Comolli's job. That's why Comolli was sacked. The two main fees that were problems were Carroll ( read his book for what he knew about that ) and Downing. But neither of us know exactly what on during the summer - read plenty of rumours about Comolli and Kenny having no say in some players.

Either way he fully deserved another season and the owner changed their expectations hence why BR didn't get sacked.

I dont believe kenny is blameless for one minute.  I remember him spending big money on chris sutton at Blackburn.  Same sort of deal as carroll but football has moved on.

Kenny had just become a caretaker manager - read his book and you will see it was a deal sorted out fully by Comolli with Kenny having no part in it. Comolli even backed it up and said it was him that sorted the signing out. Same as Comolli sorted out Suarez. Carroll will still go on to have a good career and could have done well for us but injuries and price tag and not fitting in meant he was shipped out.

BR himself started off with a window full of stinkers. But BR gets a second season. Kenny didn't and that will always be a big black mark on the owners and especially the way they treated him at the end and blanked him at the FA Cup final.

Yes Kenny isn't blameless within his 18 month stint but he got the club success and European football and was hoping to rectify the errors in the second season

How can Kenny choosing the players and then Comolli thrashing out the deals mean that Kenny has not part of it?  :upside:

Sorry Benny lad, you're contradicting yourself big time here.

Both of them had to go Kenny targeted very poor players and Comolli paid stupid prices for them.

Kenny didn't chose either Suarez or Carroll which was the discussion you quoted there.

In the summer window yes he did pick players and Comolli got them so Kenny was involved in those signings

And I guess by your last sentence BR has to go as well ?

Never seen him play, mate, but we surely need to sign at least one of these players of high repute before we can call it a good window -- especially with the business Spurs are doing. Hopefully our apparent refusal to match their bid for Macy Gray is a sign we're confident of still being able to do a deal for one of the other high profile players we've been linked with (Turan, Eriksen, Papadopoulos etc.).

I hope your right but at this point ive got almost no faith in the club to pull off any sort of deal for any high profile player, disappointment after disappointment. I refuse to believe that their arnt any top players who would be keen to sign for us, we need to stop messing about and pay the asking price and wages and get some quality into the side or were gonna be stuck in midtable for the foreseeable future.
