it`s unlikely that the echo would mention klopp at this stage of the process if he was a total non starter.
to be still mentioned after distancing himself from the job publically means that there must be some sort of communication happening.
there`s no way the echo would throw his name into the hat unless there was a possibility of him getting the job, especially in an article where they are clearing up rumours by explaining that martinez was not offered the job last week.
go FSG!

Ian Abrahams from Talksport was quoted on twitter last night suggesting that his source thinks there could be an annoucement on Monday and is 80% sure that the new manager will be Klopp and not Martinez.

the echo is basically liverpool and everton`s pravda mate, it`s the 2 clubs mouthpiece and link to the local fans, they spend their time rubbishing rumours not starting them.
i just found it odd that his name was mentioned in an article where the echo was clearing up rumours that martinez was actually offered the job. the echo said that talks with martinez will continue next week but i`m 100% convinced there is some sort of communication between klopp and the club. i`m not saying he will be our manager but you can take it as read that their is some sort of dialogue going on, it might amount to nothing but it`s happening.
it would be a huge coup for FSG if they could get him, they would get the fans back onside and send out the message that we mean business at the same time.

if true then i'll be happy for two reasons:

1- Klopp is a class manager

2- Dave Whelean will be made to look a total fool

I'll definitely second that. Whelean ending up with egg on his face would be special. I hope all this time we've been secretly meeting Klopp and Martinez has been meeting Randy Lerner across the pond

Klopp is a pipe dream. I have a feeling it's going to be a bit of an anti climax.

Are there any odds anywhere on FSG doing an about turn and reappointing Kenny?

For me Paul Lambert is a better candidate than both Martinez and Rodgers. His achievements at Norwich eclipse anything the other two have achieved and he also plays good football. On top of that he also had a successful playing career, including a year aboard at Dortmund where he won the Champions League. It would be strange if we interviewed the other 2 and not him.

Klopp’s odds have shorted in the last couple of days and he was mentioned in the Echo today as still being a target. He has done fantastically well to win back to back titles in the ever improving Bundesliga but his Dortmund team finished bottom of a very ordinary Champions League group, only picking up 4 points. We probably shouldn’t read too much into it but still something to think about.

For me Frank de boer would have topped all of the above.
