Which would leave us with a toss up between AVB and Martinez and aslong as Van Gaal is appointed as Sporting director i wouldnt be too fussed who ever took over.
Martinez likes to play nice football and with players like Gerrard and Suarez in the side i think his management style would be a success
AVB a more experienced man and a more of a winning man. I think he would like/ Need more money in the transfer market. Would like to put his own spin on things.
We can Rule Rafa out if Van Gaal is appointed as it would be a pandamonium

I actually think it's much harder to get back into the "top 4" at least than it was back in the 'history days'. Hence the reason I quoted YOU by saying it's a 'different game back then'. Today, time, patience & money don't afford managers to 'work it out', see Dalglish for the time, or lack of rather he got to achieve his end goal.
Secondly, 7th, 7th & 8th tells us a "sobering" story. It's not about putting the boot in, it's about facing reality mate.
listen mate, since the turn of the millenium just a decade or so ago we have appeared in 2 champions league finals winning one of them, we also appeared in another semi final.
we have won the uefa cup and appeared in another semi final. we have appeared in 3 f.a cup finals winning 2 of them, we have appeared in 4 league cup finals winning 3 of them, we have won the european super cup twice and appeared in the final of the world club championship. we have also finished runner up in the league twice.
most clubs in this country would be very, very proud of that if that was their history over a 100 years, at liverpool football club thats regarded as a decade in the wilderness.
now we might not be winning everything and maybe this club isnt living up to the expectations that you had when you chose to support this club but this club is not a mid table club. that is the reality lad and its about time some of you faced up to it
Again you gaze fondly at the past, focus on the present please, specifically the last 2 seasons which has seen us tumbling down the league into midtable obscurity. We really really need to be challenging for 4th next season.

My ultimate fear about all this Martinez talk is that it's a gamble that may well fail, and if we end up lower than eighth there will be a pattern and trend emerging. We will indeed be one step closer to obscurity. Martinez has his qualities, but he's far from the finished article and is too much of an unknown, a serious gamble, not just for next season, but for the future of Liverpool football club as we know it. I will get behind whoever the new man is, but as someone stated (can't remember who, sorry), enthusiasm and expectation will be dramatically reduced under a guy who has never achieved more than to keep Wigan in the Premiership.
I've said it before and i'll say it again...Martinez is a huge gamble, one that may work, but one that if it fails will have massive consequences that may never be undone. We need stability, and Martinez, for me, isn't the man to bring that. If a big name player became available, and he had the chance to work with Wenger, Whiskeynose, Chelsea's flavour of the month, or Robert Martinez...who's he gonna choose?
Martinez = more bargain basement shoppin.

Its more than that though isnt it?
We are now open to ridicule by almost every teams fans in the prem and suffer the humiliation of media pi'ss taking while FSG are waiting to make a decision.
I am absolutely gutted to be honest

I'd not be too down, mateAt the end of the day the media can take the p*ss and make up as many stories as they want. We're still Liverpool though, and inspite of what many may think, if we believe we are still a top team, then we are. That's why Martinez worries me. It feels too much like acceptance. For some reason, a lot of people believe we should accept mediocrity, or at least to accept that we've fallen a million miles from where we once were and belonged, and in some regards this is true, such as finishing 8th in the table, or the atrocious results that we witnessed this year. But in many ways it's utter b*llocks too. We're massively supported worldwide. Our history is second to none. We have the likes of Gerrard, Agger, Suarez and Reina. We had King Kenny who's rebuilding work was halted before it really kicked off. The press can laugh all they want, so long as FSG and the rest of us stay united and actually make some kind of impact other than the roar of an old and crippled lion once in a while.
Alas I don't see Wenger, Purple-Nose and co losing any sleep over Martinez, or Rodgers, or AVB. These guys would, i'm afraid, have to make a hard and fast impact to strike any fear into our opponents.
Rafa or Capello though, different story. We need someone experienced and who commands respect and strikes fear into opposing managers. Rafa or Capello are, for me, the only managers who've been mentioned who's appointment would make a true statement of intent.

Actually, didn't someone say Martinez took Swansea up?
As for your other point, yeah, Rodgers did behave well if there is truth in the rumour. A shame though that dignity dosen't win trophies whereas the lack of it can, ie Chelski/Torres.
But more and more i'm warming to this whole rebuilding process. Mostly because we as supporters appear to have no choice in the matter, and a love affair with LFC lasts forever. No matter what happens, we'll all be back if we're genuine.
