Benitez HAD to go. His time was over. There's no sense in going back to that.

I don't know where the answer lies for Liverpool's current woes, but Benitez is it, that's for damn sure.

it is a big deal to me lad, i`m proud of where i come from, you wont see me supporting a team from 200 miles away
re rafa thats your opinion, i actually agree benitez did need to go last time, the place was in uproar, there was a civil war going on at the club, there were fella`s arguing with each other all over the ground, the atmosphere was horrendous, benitez going was the easiest way to stop it. dalglish should have came in then instead of hodgson to unite the fanbase, thats what should have happened.
but benitez was a victim of circumstance, he didnt do a bad job he did a fantastic job, even at the end when the club was making big profits in the transfer windows to pay off our debts he still did a great job. the worst position he finished in has been our best finish in the last 3 years. he was brought down by the enemy within.

thanks Kenny for perhaps our final cup victory.....

He gave us our best prem season in 20 odd years - he went for the competitions he thought we had the best chance of winning , he was building a team to challenge for all competitions until the players sales started and debt mounted.

I want a manager to build us into one of the best clubs in Europe and the Prem - Rafa did that.

The owners want the CL to be able to build well Rafa is the man that got us CL.

..and he was instrumental in blowing too. We should have won the Prem that year.

The next season, back to the same old cowardly football.

I'd happily trade scraping into 4th spot and hoping for a decent CL run for winning trophys...every single day of the week.

We didn't win because we messed up against Boro - we were always chasing the Mancs and came so close - it was a big step and we needed the owners to build on that in the summer and they didn't and we suffered all season with Torres being injured and off form and getting Aquilani who was brittle. Three players were close to joining until the funds were taken away by the owners.

That was a short period of time at the end of ONE season.

I was delighted with the teams performance and happy that Benitez had taken his reins off of the team and actually let them play. But, it came TOO LATE in the season and Liverpool blew it and had to settle for 2nd spot.

The next season, back to the same old stale, cowardly, negative football.

The mess up was before Boro. That was just the nail in the coffin.

We beat Barce in a different season that we beat Madrid.

We also stuffed Inter in a different season as well.

We were solid defensively under Rafa but we also scored a lot of goals with both Gerrard and Torres having their best scoring seasons under Rafa plus also Croucg and Yossi had their best scoring seasons under Rafa. Twice we were the top scorers in the CL.
