he earned that loyalty, every f**king last drop of it

I believe you should back boards, managers and players until a time comes when you are forced to say "enough is enough"! People like yourself were saying "Keep the faith in Kenny", "you can't criticise Kenny, he's immune from criticism", "you're not a supporter you are criticising the manager" and yet here we are with you criticising the man who is odds on favourite to become our next manager and I dare say you treated Hodgson with same lack of respect, yet you're a model supporter and should be held in the highest regard. Do as you say, not as you do...

I think everyone is emotionally distraught with the way things went, it's been a rollercoaster for everyone who supports this club.

I'm keeping my opinions and judgment until we officially confirm our new manager

Nearly as bad as Dalglish this year. Wasn't it 4 wins in 18 matches throughout 2012?

Why is Martinez odds on with the bookies to be the next manager?
Who is advising FSG that he is worthy of an interview for LFC?

when the new manager is appointed i will back him, and i dont need lectures from you or anyone about supporting this club, and for your information i thought hodgson didnt get enough time, i went f**king ballistic when he was appointed but once he was here as bad as he was no one, and i mean no one, can build a team in 3 months.

I think Prem survival is really about as good as it gets for a club of Wigan's stature, mate. All the more so since they started tightening the purse strings. The clubs that inhabit that end of the table generally do find themselves on the end of a drubbing or two, but it's how they respond that matters and Wigan really have responded when they've needed to under Martinez. You'll remember the games where they've taken points of us, the Manc's, Chelsea, Arsenal over the years when they had to get results to maintain theiur push for survivial. That's got to say something worthwhile about the resolve of the manager and his ability to motivate his team under pressure. They play some really good passing football and they park the bus when they need, which is only astute management for a club down the bottom. They aren't typically retreatist in the way they play, even if they don't have the best scoring record.

Martinez isn't my first choice, and not even my second, but given the job he's done I think he looks a decent prospect. There's no harm in interviewing him for the job to see how he presents himself and his vision for the club. If we're also considering experienced candidates, then at least have a couple of up and coming managers like Martinez in there, too.

Just or the record as well (and just so you don't think I'm mental :D ), if it was a choice between Martinez and Rafa then I would have Rafa, provided he's re-charged his batteries fully and learned a thing or two since he was last here.

All managers deserve respect, support and time to establish themselves. All managers and players included deserve such basic comodities. I wasn't happy with the signings of Adam, Carroll, Downing and Henderson but I got behind them at the beginning of the season, I wasn't happy with Benitez being sacked and Hodgson being his replacement, but I still supported Roy right up until he bad mouthed the supporters after we lost 1-0 to Wolves.

It seems those who like to beat the drum about how much of a great supporter they are, aren't much better than the ones they brand as being fickle, stupid, moronic and impatient etc.

I think the general consensus is Martinez will be given short shrift by the majority of discernibly perceptive Liverpool supporters .

Don't get me wrong mate I like Martinez's qualities and his general demeanour ,I admire his football philosophy, and I believe his pursuit for perfect attacking
football will go on ,but I think we're opting for the shallow end of the pool here if we honestly believe our board will give him the patience and backing even
through his failures ...One thing that does concern me is his total lack of emphasis on defence ,having watched Wigan I just feel the need for his defenders
to constantly push up causes me serious consternation ....That said ,I too believe Rafa would be the most viable option .

I believe one is particularly vexed having to abandon his wine and cheese party before the brie was opened .
I think one laboured under the illusion that with Dalglish now gone he could seize his chance to flood the board
with his opinions with little or no opposition .

According to James Pearce at the Echo Liverpool have approached Swansea City in regards to speaking to Brendan Rodgers about the Managers job. Rather than start another individual thread about this I think we should keep any talk of potential managers in here.

I think Rodgers has alot of upside, his sides have a real identity on the football pitch and I for one wouldnt mind seeing us knocking the ball around like Barca! The obvious drawbacks are similar to Martinez in that its a huge step up in stature for someone so unproven. Personally I think he seems alot more mentally strong than Martinez and definitely will be a top drawer boss some day, just have my reservations about his lack of experience.

Alas I think we can forget Rafa, the fans had their choice last time around and look how thats turned out. Here on in I suspect its FSGs choice from top to bottom. I dont know much about Martinez apart from the fact that his teams play proper footy on the deck. If he is appointed I'd be very interested to see how he would fare with better calibre players. Personally I'd rather a continental approach were adopted again and Martinez does fit the bill for me.
