3 years fighting relegation and now he has a good chance of landing the liverpool job, unbelievable that he is even considered but it goes to show what clueless muppets fsg are and they should stick to what they know and thats definately not football.
all this will do is spark an exodus of players from the club imo.
cant believe he is even being considered ffs

I said it earlier in the thread that if Martinez is appointed then we may aswell accept that we're now a second tier team in England. Martinez may have qualities, but he's not the complete package that is required for a team of our standing and history. Martinez belongs at small clubs with small time players. If we employ him, Liverpool wont make him a top class manager, rather he will drag us down to his level. I don't mean any disrespect to the man, but he simply isn't good enough for us and there is no sense whatsoever in us even considering him. Talk about square pegs in round holes....

What has the man achieved? What qualifications are on his CV that we should be considering him? We're LIVERPOOL!!!! 18 times title winners, 5 times CL, plus all the other domestic trophies. Why is a virtually unknown relegation scrapper with NO big game experience being considered? Insane!

fsg would be wise not to put him in that position.
with martinez's appointment i cant see us making the top 4 or indeed bettering our position this year and surely this is the whole point of a change.
whatever kind of plan fsg have for us it isnt an ambitious one.

I hope Its Dalglish's name that will be resonating around Anfield come the first game ..... that's a given mate .

Hold on a minute. This guy may not be our first choice here but if hes appointed manager of Liverpool football club he deserves our support. We asked the same of people in the past that doubted previous managers so lets extent Martinez, or whomever it ends up being, the same courtesy.

if he signs wigan players and we start the season badly you watch what happens.
liverpool fans have seen this movie before under hodgson and they didnt like the ending.
he`s managed swansea in the championship and kept wigan up a couple of times, the biggest club he`s ever managed is wigan, he hasnt won anything, not even a johnsons f**king paint trophy and now he`s in charge of the most successfull club in the history of english football.

Whilst I am not cometely against the return of our most successful manager in recent years, towards the end of his time he had lost the dressing room... Anyone remember stevies face that day he subbed Torres?.... He also tried his luck in Italy and fell on his ***** since he left us.

It is surprising that some are shouting for his return already.... It seems a bit of panic thinking is going on, and I don't just mean by supporters.

Martinez does not worry me too much, I think he could do well... He did a good job at Swansea prior to going to Wigan and I like the way he sets teams up.... Whether he has the talent to make it at a. It club remains to be seen.

I don't have a preference at the moment but will wait and see, and get behind whoever is appointed.

Seems kinda irrelevant to tell folk to get off his back since we asked that Kenny be afforded patience and support. Martinez isn't our manager, and whilst I hope he wont be, I will support him as our manager if it comes to that. But in the mean time i'm gonna stomp my feet and have a paddy because i'm frustrated as f***. Don't let this nobody manage our legendary club. In a years time we'll be looking for another manager. And if we that happens again, well....where would we go from there?

If he is hired he will have more money to spend than hodgson did so you cant really compare them.
He isnt exactly my top choice and its a huge gamble to hire someone like him, but lets try to avoid the doom and gloom before he has even been interviewed.

Your missing my point mate ,the Kop will sing the man's name before the match starts ,in the same manner they sing walk on .

I know what your saying BG, I thought that you meant it as a direct slight on whoever takes the job. I dont want whoever this guy is be on a Hodgson style backlash before a ball is even kicked. Sadly from the reactions Im seeing here I dont think thats going to happen.

If it is Martinez, its not a Roy Hodgson situation and heres why. Uncle Woy always had his sides hard to beat, he was a master at consolidating his sides in midtable and one year he went on a freak run and got to the Europa cup final, but he always had that negative "set out not to lose" mentality that just isnt going to work for a side wanting to challenge at the top. More importantly though was the fact that he was too long in the tooth to change his ways (remember the infamous "my methods have translated from blah blah to blah blah rant that had as all shaking our heads.) Martinez has a positive approach to the game, he may well be untested at the high level and hell he may well fall straight on his face, but I believe 100% he is the completely different kettle of fish from Hodgson - he's already proved this season that when something isnt working that he is ready and willing to change and adapt. Lets give him a chance (if he is appointed, which is still far from a done deal)

i agree with what your saying.
this is not a sign of ambition by fsg at all and its down to how the media have bigged him up along with the fact that he comes across all nice in front of the cameras.
fsg are more concerned about fooking PR than they are about football and appointing martinez will prove it

plus he`s one of that crowd that hangs around with ferguson, his LMA buddies.
i suppose if we are struggling he can always phone him up for advice, i expect suarez to be gone soon after ferguson has a word with martinez.

That Whelan cant keep his trap shut either unfortunately.

Straight on to Sky soon as hes put phone down on Henry.

No doubt trying to sabotage the lads chance of moving on
by stirring up a shitstorm of a backlash from our fans so
Fenway scrub him off the list before hes had chance to
have his interview.

Poor really from Whelan and I would be livid if I was
Martinez.

What worries me most about Martinez is the gamble factor. We've been wandering in the wilderness for too long and we can't afford to take a gamble on Martinez. Right now i'd say that if he managed us, we'd have a 50/50 chance of sinking further and the other 50 would be that we might succeed. Those aren't good odds (nor accurate odds, I admit, but it really is a huge gamble). If we DID, God forbid, sink further, then we're one step closer to vanishing all together, just as Coventry, Sheff Wed, Southampton, Luton, QPR, Oxford and such have done.

If we emply Martinez, I really, truly will worry for our future. We simply can't afford to sink any lower.

Ok, if we have indeed asked to speak to Martinez, then I will have to retract my statement on FSG. This is scandalous, he has won nothing, they surely are not going to trust him with their money?

We will surely have taken a step into the 2nd set of teams with the likes of Everton, Newcastle - if that.

I have to admit I am a bit concerned now

he`s got the job because he`s the flavour of the month, from august to february he won 4 games now he`s managing us.
he`s a ferguson lackey as well, roy was a ferguson fan but even he never used to bevvy with him.
