Mate, I guess what some of us are thinking is that with Allens departure and the money subsequently spent, where's the upgrade ???????????.

Early days, agreed, BUT was personally hoping this fella would from the off show maybe just a bit of "authority" and stamp an impression.

So far I don't see anything that he's added to the team.

I think Allen is at his ceiling and you are seeing him at his peak. I think Wijnaldum has a much higher ceiling and when settled will bring a lot more to the team than Allen. He is bigger, stronger, faster and seems more technically astute than Allen, who's attitude and professionalism I liked but I think Wijnaldum is a better player. Time will tell as always but for me it is pretty clear. The biggest knock on Wijnaldum seemed to be he only scored at home for Newcastle and never scored away, not exactly ideal but points to a confidence player. We need to see him more than once at Anfield to compare them. My guess is he will chip in with more goals than Allen this year.

The Express are reporting that we'll bid £25m for Mahmoud Dahoud in January. LFC scouts were at the City CL match and Dahoud is reportedly refusing to sign an extension to his current contract, which expired in 2018.

He's actually in the Henderson/Wijnaldum role.

He looks a good player that lad, he's got the energy of Henderson but also the close control of someone like Lallana.
He'd be a perfect fit for a Jurgen Klopp side, not many CM's around who have boundless energy and great feet.

Bear in mind that Klopp high tempo football calls for a large squad.  AND... Klopp is used to a German league winter break so in effect, 2 short seasons, whereas the Christmas new / year period for us is the busiest in the whole season, so we if we're to keep this pace up then we need a a higher quality, bigger squad, ie rotation (where's Rafa?). He doesn't waster his money but can't afford Pogba's, he needs up and coming 25 million style players. Clever chaps these Girmans.

A lot of the fat has been trimmed from the squad so we should be looking to bolster the first team now. I've read that City are in for Dahoud as well as us.

Linked with Inaki Williams the young Spanish forward at Bilbao.

Reports frim a variety of sources we are willing to meet his 45m release clause, doesnt sound like something we would do but you never know if they really fancy him.

Is Momo still only 31? He must have been young when he signed for us then. He's been gone best part of a decade.

Apparently he's off to Malaysia though that club he is rumored with has denied it.

Hope not! Don't remember any signing from Italy that has done well in Liverpool; from Dossena to Balo and that keeper Padelli.
