I'm not saying he would not adapt but isnt this the same kind of tripe that was dribbled when Morientes was going to sign? ???? ???

frightening to think that barcelona felt they could let both him and riquelme leave.

[quote] The agent of Argentina star Javier Saviola has confirmed that Panathinaikos lead the race for his client's services.

Saviola has proven all his class at the World Cup alongside Hernan Crespo but it has long since been decided that he will be on his way from Barcelona in the summer.

The past two seasons have seen the diminutive forward enjoy hugely productive loan spells at Monaco and Sevilla respectively, playing a major in the latter's Uefa Cup win last term.

Arsenal have been mooted as contenders for his signature but his agent, Alfredo Cabrera Brizuela, has now conceded that the offer from Greece is attractive.

Panathinaikos have put forward a proposal for two years, with Barca netting €6 million and Saviola, €3 million per season.

''The offer of Panathinaikos for Saviola is the best so far,'' he told GOAL.

''We have had contact with several clubs but the offer from Greece has made Saviola think very, very hard.'' [quote]

there the latest :)

Wouldn't want Saviola.  We've got a pacy option now in Bellamy, if we bring in another striker it should be someone who is more of a goalscorer imo.  Saviola doesn't score enough.  Good little player, but not for us and perhaps not in the premiership.

Bolton Wanderers have joined the hunt for unwanted Barcelona schemer Javier Saviola.

The Argentina international is being shipped out of Camp Nou over the summer after spending last season on loan at Sevilla.

Panathinaikos had been hoping to arrange a deal for the diminutive attacker and held talks with the player's agent Alfredo Cabrera Brizuela.

Arsenal were also confirmed as admirers of Saviola and reports have suggested The Gunners are close to agreeing a move.

But Cabrera has now revealed Bolton are keen on bringing Saviola to The Premiership after registering their interest.

Trotters boss Sam Allardyce has never lacked ambition in the transfer market and a bid for Saviola would rank among his most audacious yet.

Cabrera acknowledged the three teams battling for the 24-year-old's signature and concedes the player would prefer a switch to The Premiership, if he leaves Spain.

"There is a proposal from Panathinaikos, as there are from other teams," Cabrera told Greek paper Sport Day.

"One of them is Arsenal, while there is also interest from Bolton.

"Our priority is for Javier to remain in Spain or go to England because he is interested in the quality of the football.

"Greece is not first choice as the league is not the same quality as in other countries."

thats the latest now :)

surely if bolton could be in there shouldnt we try?
