Italian report: Inter Milan target Liverpool skipper GerrardApril 01, 2010
According to Italian daily Tuttosport, Inter Milan will launch a summer bid to lure Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard to the San Siro.
Inter coach Jose Mourinho has reportedly highlighted the need to buy a world-class midfielder and having given up on the idea of signing Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas, he is targeting Gerrard. Mourinho attempted to sign Gerrard from Liverpool when he was manager of Chelsea and is clearly a big admirer of the England midfielder.
Tuttosport reports that the possibility of signing Gerrard would rest on whether Liverpool qualify for next season's Champions League or not. There has been persistent speculation over whether Gerrard's ambition is matched by the Anfield club, where he has spent his entire career until now.
Were there a possibility of signing Gerrard, Tuttosport speculates that the 29 year-old would cost Inter Milan around 35 million Euros. Inter President Massimo Moratti would apparently look to fund the transfer partly through the sale of unsettled striker Mario Balotelli .
