Italian report: Inter Milan target Liverpool skipper GerrardApril 01, 2010

According to Italian daily Tuttosport, Inter Milan will launch a summer bid to lure Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard to the San Siro.

Inter coach Jose Mourinho has reportedly highlighted the need to buy a world-class midfielder and having given up on the idea of signing Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas, he is targeting Gerrard.  Mourinho attempted to sign Gerrard from Liverpool when he was manager of Chelsea and is clearly a big admirer of the England midfielder.

Tuttosport reports that the possibility of signing Gerrard would rest on whether Liverpool qualify for next season's Champions League or not. There has been persistent speculation over whether Gerrard's ambition is matched by the Anfield club, where he has spent his entire career until now.

Were there a possibility of signing Gerrard, Tuttosport speculates that the 29 year-old would cost Inter Milan around 35 million Euros.  Inter President Massimo Moratti would apparently look to fund the transfer partly through the sale of unsettled striker Mario Balotelli .

I am far more confident after he came out in the media last week, admitted he's had a poor season and talked about rectifying it both this season and, more importantly, longer term...

The coded reference to faeces is a result of the colloquialism being censored on this forum and as thus returning a ' :censored: '. Re "faggot" I'm sure my dissapointment at your vulgarity is probably shared by others, not quite the 'Boycie' image your trying to portray. South African rascist :censored:.

The mail is running a similar story but they say they will use Balotelli to lure him. Balotelli is a top top player. He needs some guidance and I don't think Rafa has a good record with 'bad boys' so i'm not sure how this one would play out. But if Stevie want's to move on this would be a great deal imo. He is powerful, very skilled on the ball and can play anywhere across the middle, up front, on the wings ect...

EDIT
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road
