No offence, but I'm not sure why we should be interested.

Owen said that as the deadline came the liverpool deal wasn't going to happen in time and that just left staying at real or going to newcastle.

That leaves me thinking that if we would have bid before or on the same day of newcastle he could be wearing a liverpool shirt right now not a newcastle one.

He was very composed. He answered every question diplomatically and intelligently.
I wish the begrudgery would stop on these forums.

Liverpool DID NOT do enough to secure his signing. It is not his fault we could not get him this time round.

Let it be........

:talktothehand

I like Michael Owen, I like Rafa Benitez and I even don't mind Newcastle or Souness.

I just think that Michael has been built up to God-like status over the last couple of weeks.  The opinions he gives at a press conference will be as diplomatic as ever.  They won't tell us what he really thinks about Liverpool or his real reasons for joining Newcastle.  The truth surely is that he's desparate to play in the World Cup in Germany and that's why he's moved to a club he doesn't really fancy.  He isn't going to say that on telly though is he?

Owen told Sky Sports: "Strikers always rely on the rest of the team.

"You can't do anything on your own. If the team doesn't play well then strikers can suffer too.

"One of the big things in football is confidence. And when we've only got one point from four games going into this match, you don't expect everyone to be flying.

"I wanted to show the best of me on Saturday but it wasn't to be for a few reasons.

"I'm sure it won't take much time to get used to the lads, the football and everything else.

"It's not been the greatest week with England losing and us only drawing. But it's going to get better.

"Pressure doesn't really affect me. I've been used to pressure all my life and probably prefer playing a game when people expect things of you.

"I expect a lot of myself.

"I'd like to think the rest of the team are looking for me to score. You must have that mentality."
