The Premier League has charged Manchester City with breaking its financial rules following a long-running investigation.

It has referred the club to an independent commission over alleged breaches between 2009 and 2018, and accused City of not co-operating with the investigation from December 2018.

In a statement the Premier League said City breached rules requiring them to provide "accurate financial information that gives a true and fair view of the club's financial position".

This information included the club's revenue, including sponsorship revenue and operating costs.

Further alleged breaches relate to rules requiring full details of manager remuneration - from the 2009-10 to 2012-13 seasons, when Roberto Mancini was in charge - and player remuneration between 2010-11 and 2015-16.

The Premier League said City breached rules related to Uefa regulations - including Financial Fair Play (FFP) - from 2013-14 to 2017-18, as well as Premier League rules on profitability and sustainability from 2015-16 to 2017-18.

In 2020 City had a two-year ban from European club competitions overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas), after Uefa ruled that City committed "serious breaches" of FFP regulations between 2012 and 2016.

Last season City won their sixth Premier League title since the 2008 takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group.

It could have happened an year earlier at least...

This doesn't mean anything if they aren't stripped of their tainted trophies and booted from the Premier League.

If the FA do nothing about this or hand out a pathetic punishment it will only embolden Henry, Boehly and the Glazers to go off and start their sh.i.tty Super League with the rest of Europes elite.

Hopefully they lose the appeal and it sets a precedent for 115 of Man City’s infractions. The Everton case seems like a trial run, all they did was try to hide some interest payments. I read it may not get sorted for 2-4 years and by then Pep will be off.

I doubt anything will happen to City regardless of what happens to Everton or any other club.

I think if the appeal gets rejected then there is precedent there and City will be in big trouble, I hope so anyway. It’s not about getting more titles for us, it’s about cheaters getting found out and punished and an example made of them so other teams don’t do the same thing. With City it has been so blatant and it affects all the other teams so they won’t have any other teams in their corner. The PL would look corrupt if after docking Everton they don’t punish the ultimate cheaters namely City and Chelsea. In accordance with Premier League Rule W.82.1, the Premier League confirms that it has referred a number of alleged breaches of the Premier League Rules by Manchester City Football Club (Club) to a Commission under Premier League Rule W.3.4.

Details of the Premier League Rules that the Club is alleged to have breached are as follows:

1. In respect of each of Seasons 2009/10 to 2017/18 inclusive, the Premier League Rules applicable in those seasons that required provision by a member club to the Premier League, in the utmost good faith, of accurate financial information that gives a true and fair view of the club’s financial position, in particular with respect to its revenue (including sponsorship revenue), its related parties and its operating costs, namely:

(a) for Season 2009/10, Premier League Rules B.13, C.71, C.72, C.75 (amended to C.79 from 10 September 2009 for the remainder of Season 2009/10) and C.80;
(b) for Season 2010/11, Premier League Rules B.13, C.78, C.79, C.86 and C.87;
(c) for Season 2011/12, Premier League Rules B.13, E.3, 4, E.11 and E.12;

(a) for Season 2013/14, Premier League Rule B.14.6; and
(b) for Seasons 2014/15 to 2017/18 inclusive, Premier League Rule B.15.6.

4. In respect of each of the Seasons 2015/16 to 2017/18 inclusive, the Premier League Rules applicable in those Seasons on Profitability and Sustainability, namely:

(a) for Season 2015/16, Premier League Rules E.52 to E.60; and
(b) for Seasons 2016/17 and 2017/18, Premier League Rules E.53 to E.60.

5. In respect of the period from December 2018 to date, the Premier League Rules applicable in the relevant Seasons requiring a member club to cooperate with, and assist, the Premier League in its investigations, including by providing documents and information to the Premier League in the utmost good faith, namely:

(a) for Season 2018/19, Premier League Rules B.16, B.19, W.1, W.2, W.12 and W.13;
(b) for Season 2019/20, Premier League Rules B.16, B.19, W.1, W.2, W.12 and W.13;
(c) for Season 2020/21, Premier League Rules B.16, B.19, W.1, W.2, W.12 and W.13;

Commissions are independent of the Premier League and member clubs. The members of the Commission will be appointed by the independent Chair of the Premier League Judicial Panel, in accordance with Premier League Rules W.19, W.20 and W.26.

The proceedings before the Commission will, in accordance with Premier League Rule W.82, be confidential and heard in private. Under Premier League Rule W.82.2, the Commission’s final award will be published on the Premier League’s website.

So 12 clubs voted to block players being loaned through multi club ownership and 8 voted against. But because they didn't get 14 to block it then the 8 clubs in favour win!!     

The Saudi league is pure dirt and most of those players will take the loan moves as the level there is so poor. Bit unfair that Newcastle can bring in top players this way and avoid FFP.

10 point deduction coming up for the league each year they breached and stripped of any cups won during same years!!     

When the verdict does get released then people are going to see just how much this League is corrupted.

A two year ordeal

Whilst I feel sorry for Everton it is essential that there appeal fails and they accept the 10 point reduction - to set a precedent for which City can be punished. If Everton are let off the hook then there's no point pursuing City any further.

Everton with another 2 points deducted. Lol If they still manage to survive relegation I have to hand it to them.

Everton, Forrest getting points deducted but nothing happening to City.

It's like every week they change the amount of points deducted from Everton. It's becoming a bit of a joke (if it wasn't already).
