Anelka has always worked best as a lone striker and we've got torres as our main striker .

Manchester City owners promise Milan's Kaka is 'just the first signing' with Messi, Gerrard and Lampard all in sight
By Bob Cass Last updated at 10:13 PM on 17th January 2009
Manchester City are ready to turn fantasy football into reality with a series of big-money transfers to follow up their £100 million world record bid for Milan superstar Kaka.
On top of their £250,000- a-week offer to the Brazilian former world footballer of the year, City's Abu Dhabi owners, headed by Sheik Mansour, are hoping to tempt Kaka with the promise that he will be just the first of an incredible roll call of talent who will end up at the City of Manchester Stadium.
That could see City spending vast sums on a hit-list which includes the likes of Barcelona's Lionel Messi, Liverpool's Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard, of Chelsea.

Even Manchester United pair Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney are targets, an indication of Sheik Mansour's determination to turn his club into the biggest and most successful club in the world.
Such spending would represent a clear challenge to the established record of arch rivals and neighbours United, the European champions and now odds-on favourites to land their third successive Premier League title.
If City do finally persuade Milan to part with a player who is coveted throughout the globe and who, until now, was considered untouchable, they will have shown that every player has his price.

The logic of the deal is that there is not a club in the world who could ignore City's oil-backed cash, particularly at a time of global financial restraint.
Roman Abramovich, Chelsea's billionaire owner, has already indicated that he has dipped into his personal fortune to subsidise signings for the last time.

Who's next: World class trio Frank Lampard, Lionel Messi and Steven Gerrard are all on mega-rich Manchester City's ambitious transfer wish-list

The big question will be whether Sheik Mansour and his connections will put their long-term faith in Mark Hughes.
Results between now and the end of the season will decide whether the City manager is handed the responsibility of steering the club towards what they hope will be a bright, new future.

I think he would. Can't ever see him playing for any other club now.

Not a chance in hell of any of our squad going I hope. (unless they want Babel :D)

No matter how tempting we are meant to be fighing for top honours so selling our best players will not help our cause. 100Mil is a lot of money though, who knows. What if they said 150 - 160Mil? :censored: you could build a new team with that but if we did that then we may as well pack up the club.

They can :censored: right off!

If he does in fact go to Man City for the reported £107,000,000 it will be a travesty for football. No one person on earth is worth this amount of money. In today's climate this should not be allowed to happen. There are some people that can't pay bills under £100, never mind think about this kind of money. Scandalous!  :veryangry

The FA have the power to do something and should do so. Funny how UEFA were happy to moan about us having too many overseas players but they dont say anything about this.
