January window too harsh ? - The boss thinks so !

The Premiership - General Discussion

Interesting proposal put forwrad by the Boss.. shud there be excetions to the rule..?  I think Yes ...

Benitez said: "In Spain, when you have someone who is injured for more than six months, you can sign another player, even though the transfer window is closed.

"Here in England, that's not possible. I think it's a special situation and it would be something for people to consider.

"At this moment, I can't do anything to replace Djibril. We can do nothing but watch the transfer market. We were doing this before Djibril was injured and now it's the same.

"We have to see if we can find the right player, and then if we do we will say something."

Whilst I sympathise with Raffa's plight the Premier League has never been a level playing field in the sense that all teams compete on an equal footing. Clubs having far greater spending power than others, the right to keep all your Home games revunue , the refereee's obvious bias towards the so called "big" clubs etc.....all make the premier league a 3 tiered lague. The upper echelon who can win it , the middle plateau who are safe from relegation and the lower tier who fight releagtion on a season by season basis.....

The fact remains that in the English league the clubs all abide by the same rule despite what haqppens in Spain ...

I suppose they could make an exception on compassinate grounds but like all rules it would no doubt be open to abuse.

What has made me a little perturned with the whole Cisse injury thing is the understanding that raffa has received when many LFC fans did not show the same understanding to Houllier last season when our injury list was more widespread and affected more than just one star player.

I went to the Newcastle Away game last season and watched as Liverpool played Pongolle up front on his own first half and Smicer up front on his own second half cos Owen, Le Tellac, Baros and  Heskey were all injured :O We got a draw and that became the difference between 4th and 5th place and a CL qualification position .....

.. I suppose many fans were fed-up with Houllier, he's poor aqcuisitions, he's excuses and so on..

Benitez.. is changing things.. also he's been cash strapped and has brought-in players who have come in and immediately made a difference to the team... referring to Hunk's especially :;):  ... Houlliers plight was sealed .. thus lttle sympathy..

. funny creatures.. fans..

:D There's nothing quite as fickle as football fans :D

Raffa's got it , of that there is no argument. My point wasn't a dig at Raffa just an observation about fans.

Can someone jog my failing memory . What were the prime reasons for the imposition of the "transfer windows" ? . Surely a player or club could fight them in the euro court if they wanted to push it that far .
