It's tight at the bottom - Who will go down?

The Premiership - General Discussion

With 5/6 games to go it is getting very tight at the bottom:

                            P   GD   PTS
15 Sunderland        33 -12   35
16 Hull                  33 -20   34
17 Blackburn          33 -20   34
18 Middlesbrough    33 -22   31
19 Newcastle         32 -15   30
20 West Brom        32 -31   25

Remaining fixtures.

Sunderland:
West Brom A, Everton H, Bolton A, Portsmouth A, Chelsea H.

Hull:
Liverpool H, Aston Villa A, Stoke H, Bolton A, Man Utd H.

Blackburn:
Wigan H, Man City A, Portsmouth H, Chelsea A, West Brom H.

Middlesbrough:
Arsenal A, Man Utd H, Newcastle A, Aston Villa H, West Ham A.

Newcastle:
Spurs A, Portsmouth H, Liverpool A, Middlesbourgh H, Fulham H, Aston Villa A.

West Brom:
Man City A, Sunderland H, Spurs A, Wigan H, Liverpool H, Blackburn A.

I think West Brom will finish bottom, Boro 2nd bottom, Hull 3rd bottom and Newcastle will just avoid relegation.

Newcastle, Hull and Middlesbourgh have very tough run-ins and I think it will be difficult for them, specially Hull. Boro and Newcastle have to play each other at St James' Park, I think that the winner of that has the best chance of staying up...

WBA doomed, i like southgate, he's honest, but still would like 'boro to go down???  then its a choice of Nufc, Hull, Sunderland, Blackburn. Its time for a "big" club to go down imho, so Nufc look to be it, pay back for the way they treated Sir Bobby:O

I was looking for more of a serious response to be honest but I'll forgive you because it was quite funny.  :D

West Brom are gone and looks like Boro are gone too.

I think its between Newcastle and Hull to see who else goes down, but I suspect it might be Hull.

Poor old west brom -would like them to have stayed up but they have no hope. Hope Boro go too and Hull just to teach Phil Brown a lesson in team management  hope the players drag him in front of the fans and say-you should have done it our way

I hope Hull stay up. I've enjoyed some of their games this year, but they're on a brutal run of late.

I wouldn't care if Boro or Newcastle went down, they bore the shit out of me.

Nice to Wolves up again though.

Newcastle haven't won in nine league games, last win was over bottom of the pile WBA. I think they will struggle, especially given their run-in. Boro aren't scoring, that isn't good, yet Hull are in freefall. I think Sunderland and Blackburn are scrappily picking up enough points that they should be ok, although Sunderland surrendered way too weakly against WBA.

Nanny - Charlton, Southampton and probably Norwich* are going to go down, all three were in the Premiership as recently as 04/05 when Norwich, Southampton and Palace were relegated, Charlton in 06/07.

*Norwich or Barnsley, Norwich need to win and need Barnsley to lose. Interestingly Reading could still go up automatically if they beat Birmingham and Sheff Utd don't win (against Palace)

Thanks to Leeds, Southampton faced relegation either way. Before Leeds tried to take their 10 point deduction when they had already been relegated, you would get the 10 point deduction that season. Now they've changed it and Southampton were fecked either way. It would be fairer to say that 10 points are deducted next season if you go into administration in the last 10 games of the season, the same season if you go into administration before the last 10 games of the season. To say when the points will be deducted depends on if a side stays up is farcical, only Leeds could decide when to go into administration and then connive their way into paying 8p in the £1 to their creditors. They made a mockery of debt and administration, but everyone else is laughing that they didn't get away with their attempt to dodge a meaningful points deduction and are still in league one now, maybe for another season.
