Everton in europe - 4th best team in england?

The Premiership - General Discussion

Postby West Ham fan » Sun Aug 14, 2005 2:22 am

I came onto this board after Liverpool had won the Champions League to offer my congratulations and was surprised at the number of Everton fans here making snide remarks and claiming that despite beating AC Milan, Everton had proved themselves better than Liverpool by virtue of their Premiership finish. It just goes to show that you shouldn't be too mouthy too soon. Everton are looking at being eliminated at the very first hurdle to a side probably not ranked in the top 20 in this year's competition. A little bit of humility in victory and respect at Liverpool's achievement and not so many people would be laughing at you.

I think Everton met their match already.  I'm hardly suprised as I viewed last season as somewhat of a fluke.  They just don't have the quality needed to progress to the group stages and I think this year they are going to finish out of the top 10.   Thanks for coming out guys don't let the door hit you on your way out.

Give it two weeks mate about Everton's European dream will be over cos I can't see then beating Villareal in Spain, plus they try and play like a prem team in Europe which just can't be done.

At West Ham, we're so used to starting off badly and having the media labelling our third or fourth match as a 'relegation dogfight', that I just hope we can pick up a few early points and settle in mid-table and play without that pressure. I honestly think we can get a mid-table finish which I think everyone at Upton Park would be delighted with. Good luck to Liverpool this season - I think if you can be up there 'in the title mix' with five games to go, anything can happen. I'd love to see Chelsea get that stupid smirk wiped off their faces.

Gotta love the Hammers. Beating Blackburn (who's leg is getting broken this time round?  ) is always nice and IFBB is almost as good as YNWA (well, y'know what I mean. It's nowhere near really, but it's above the rest :D  ). As for the Everscum, we'll send them a postcard from Nyon when the draw gets made for the groups. :D

anyone out there like myself been lucky enough to find a deluded blue nose daft enough to bet them  £50 even that they will finish above us again this season? I did! :eyebrow -
make it even better- go down to ladbrokes and you will get 7/1 that they will do it (could be more now) put £8 on it to cover the bet - show them the slip- laugh-and wait for your winnings
oh and tell them if they want to cover their £50 by backing us-it will only cost them £1250 as we are 1/25 on to finish above them- sounds a bit childish- but I really fukkin enjoyed it  :rasp

Everton only finished 4th because they got the 1-0 results against the lesser teams.  I think they conceeded 12 goals to Arsenal over 2 games! I expect them to struggle with the WAffer cup and the league, their squad just isn't big enough.
