looks like it's really going to happen this time!

Arsenal board ready to sell Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona

Cesc Fabregas has been linked with a return to Barca for several seasons Arsenal are prepared to sell Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona if the two clubs can agree a fee, BBC Sport has learned.

The Premier League club have rejected an initial bid but are now bracing themselves for an improved offer.

A senior Arsenal official said: "The offer was made formally in writing to our chief executive (Ivan Gazidis), and we said no straight away."

Asked if the club expected another bid, the source said: "Possibly. If it's enough I expect we'll have to sell."

“You cannot transfer the heart and soul of Liverpool Football Club, although I am sure there are many clubs who would like to buy it.”

Left out of promos as well apparently. He's absolutely class, interesting to see how they cope with losing him and nasri potentially

Last season Fabregas scored 23 goals and got 19 assists in all competitions.  This season he has 10 goals and 16 assists in all competitions.  He's gotten worse, he continues to get injured, he's one year older and his contract is one year shorter.

If Arsenal think they're getting the 40 Barca offered last season, then they've got another thing coming for them...

I'll be shocked if he goes for more than 30.

I think anything less than 40 would be a bargain given what English clubs are paying for far inferior players... Obviously they wont be willing to sell to any rivals but if ManCity or Chelsea were in the hunt they wouldnt hesitate to match that 40mill asking price...

Arsenal are probably the most likely of the top4 to drop out of a CL spot next season with or without Fabregas. That said, I think their main player last season was Nasri, and that was largely because of them having to deploy him in a more central role due to Fabregas' injuries. He was fantastic and to be perfectly honest I think they're in a situation where it might be better for them to sell Fabregas, rely more heavily on Nasri, and bring in better players for the positions where they really struggle...

If they do end up selling as expected, then I really hope Arsene continues his tradition of not paying big and not buying established talent. They've already bagged a very good player in Gervinho, but unless they improve their backline and goalkeeper then they'll always struggle to maintain their position imo...

Is it good for us that their main player is leaving ? All depends on how they spend the money imo...

I thought Barca have offered less than what they did last year? Can't see Arsenal budging tbh, but then again Barca payed a lot of money for Ibra so im sure they can pull it off if they wanted.

For every Sanchez that rejects City, there is a Silva that doesn't. They are in the CL so im sure they will 'become attractive' before long, especially if they get a decent manager who can play good football.

I wouldnt say no loyalty, he clearly loves Arsenal but returning to his homeland is his preferred career route and they are the best club side in the world so we can hardly blame him. I do wonder why he signed a seven year contract tho if he was interested in going back. If Arsenal refused to sell I don't think for a second Cesc would huff about it and refuse to play or give less effort on the pitch
