Torres looks to be the most complete striker we ever had...

If we had better wingers who are fast......(yada...yada...yada ...you know where i am going :p) .... he would be easily be toping the scoring charts every season (and before long will be breaking rush's goalscoring record).

Rushie and Aldridge had that crucial element to his game, always at the right place at the right time
King Kenny created as many goals as he scored himself, And Keegan was more of SG than anything else
So I guess I have to go for Fowler since they both seem to be one of the best natural finishers around

For me Torres is the best out and out striker we've ever had. I say that with due reverence to the Fowlers, the Rush's, the Owens (who wasn't as good as the other two IMHO) and the rest. Torres is currently the best out and out striker in the World IMHO, and I don't think any of them were even in their prime. Dalglish I don't include as IMHO he was a different type of player, albeit one who was fantastically talented.

.......and another little dink over the keeper.

Hes the greatest striker in the clubs history and the best striker on the planet.... now 43 in 43 at Anfield and no pens, playing infront of an average midfield four that dont create bucketloads of chances like the dominant teams of old. At Villa in late December he was starved of any service like ive never seen a Liverpool forward before, it was disgraceful, then a deflected ball breaks to him in the 93rd minute for his 1st chance, clinically put away.

His goals to shots ratio must be frightening

the guy has the potential to break every record in the book. he's already broken records such as scoring in 8 home league games in a row and last night becoming the first liverpool player to score a brace in 4 home games in a row.

i never though i'd see a guy who was as clinical in a one on one situation as robbie fowler. this guy comes seriously close. some of his finishing is sublime and is right up there with god in my book.

the scary thing is he's still 3 years from his peak.

and one must bear in mind he doesn't play as part of a 4-4-2 with a partner up front to compliment him! Frighteningly fantastic.

Didnt get to see legends like Rush and King Kenny so that's a pity.

For me he reminds me of Fowler for making scoring goals look so easy.
Still remember the goal Fowler scored vs Alaves during the Uefa cup final, he received the ball on the edge of the very crowded box, did a little dance and just pass the ball into the net.
He made it looked so easy!
Torres 2nd goal against Benfica is actually very hard to execute but he made it look so easy.

While torres is fantastic and prob the best striker in the world currently but our best ever striker ? not yet for me - not when you look at rush through the 80s and his goalscoring ability - nothing comes close .

One of the main areas where Rushie has a big advantage over Torres is that Rushie was an excellent passer of the ball. I know many won't agree with me but I think this is one part of Torres game that lets him down a little(being hyper-critical)

Totally agree with those sentiments mate ,World Class though Torres may be, he is still some way short of Rush's  ability to retain possession and distribute the ball with slide rule accuracy ,but if Torres ever develops his game to include these skills then he truly will be the very best striker this game has ever seen

He doesn't even like taking penalties does he? Makes his scoring record all the more amazing.
