Sad to see him go but we will come back stronger. Could it be the terms of the deal are to remain unknown so that anyone we try to deal with doesnt inflate their players valuations? I hope so.

Xabi Alonso finally signs for Real in £35m deal

Real Madrid’s tortuous pursuit of Xabi Alonso reached a conclusion last night when the Liverpool midfield player joined the Spanish club in a deal that could ultimately be worth £35 million.

Alonso, 27, has agreed a four-year contract worth £80,000 a week after tax and will be formally announced as a Real player today, subject to the successful completion of a medical.

Liverpool will receive an initial £30 million, with a further £5 million payable in add-ons depending on the player and club’s success. Liverpool will try to sign Alberto Aquilani, the Roma midfield player, with Rafael Benítez, the manager, hopeful of concluding an £18 million deal this week.

We don't really have gypsys, at least I don't think we do. Not sure exactly what they are. why don't they try and get jobs or settling in one place? do they enjoy living the way they do?

Note Xabi is on 80 thou a week AFTER tax. In the Uk that would mean 130 thou a week gross.....

Told yer - anything less than £30 mill and we would have been shafted.

Whether Alonso is worth that amount or not - its a perfectly respectable wedge in this day and age. How much of that Rafa will have access to......is another story.

I think he will get around 22Mil of that. But remember he also has the Arby money and what money he could yet raise from Dossena. Not sure if his negotiations with Napoli have completley broken down or not.

But to be honest im sure he already knew before hand what he would get from it. He probably talked about this all when negotiating his own contract so i doubt the owners would try and pull a fast one on him.
