Sabre what do your Basque compatriates reckon about him going to madrid?
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Joe.... becuase the f.ucking Pikeys thats why, they enjoy being hated, dirty, thiefing ba'stards.

Reg i I know this figure like many others has been muted but is it true - it is an undisclosed deal?

I am happy with the rumoured £30m for a 27 year old who has had one outstanding season. Hopefully there will be performance related payments above the £30m. We cashed in at the right time provided Rafa is allowed to spend the money and buy a quality, younger and more rounded replacement, with serious marketing potential. It will be interesting to follow Xabi's progress at RM.

Do you think he made up his mind to go all along last from last summer? I just think it's a bit cheeky of him to go ahead and be one of the main pillars of that whole 12th man away kit ad campaign. I'm just grasping at straws here.

Anyway good luck Xabi.

Time to move onwards and upwards. I hope Rafa moves quick now.

85% of the people,  don't like it.

Real Sociedad makes 100 years and after Liverpool saying no to the invitation to play on saturday to conmemorate, Real Madrid said yes and Alonso is going to play in Anoeta.

I for one won't go to that game even if I don't miss a single game. I don't want them for a friendly, and I don't want to watch Alonso on a white shirt.  :no

I don't know if I'm deluded or what, but I'm well dissapointed with Xabi. His bad relationship with Rafa is as old as the Pako Aiestaran affair, the affair with his son, was nothing more than a consequence that a very deteriorated relationship.

That didn't stop him from signing a 5 year contract though, and that didn't stop him from talking beautiful things about how special is Liverpool. With all the "how he was treated" that never stopped of saying similar words about playing for Liverpool last September. Now he does a very good season, he hears the wrong people, and he forgets his commitment to win a league here. He can fúck off for all I care.

Call me bitter but that's the way I feel. Very dissapointed.

Well he is a fantastic player, and I do feel a little bitter about the manner he has forced our hand to get this move. However I also see it as a chance to improve, and am really excited about what may lay ahead. The club is bigger than him!

Walk on lads... walk on!

The politically correct term would be "travellers" because they are basically just nomadic Irish folks that move about the place in caravans like gypsies do, hence the slang "Gypos". It's just their way of life. Pikey is a more English term that they are known by. Don't know where it comes from, but in Ireland they are called "Tinkers" and sometimes "Knackers" although the word knacker has various meanings.

Not all of them are as bad as they are made out, but like you say, they are sort of a Mafia, with fueds often breaking out between rival families in different camps. As other have mentioned, they can be a serious pain in the balls, especially at funerals and such - always murder or someone getting shot. Crazy B@stards they are.

Anyway, speaking of travellers...I do believe Xabi is on his way? Rafa must have haggled like a gypsy to get his asking price out of them c@nts.

how did they get to be this way? how long have they been on the run? thousands of years? hundreds?

how often do normal people have run ins with these folk?

Think you could make a great comedy out of having a bunch of fired investment bankers and the the like forming their own band of gypos  :D

I think this requires it's own thread, Joe. However, it would be prudent that it's done in a tasteful manner, because although Travellers can be a pain in the ar$e, they are regarded as a sub-culture within the Irish ethenticity, so offense could be caused if one should stumble upon the forum and the thread in particular.

Well somebody of his ability is the only way I'd ever consider moving Gerrard into central midfield. If we could get a Diego or an Aguero level player it maybe worth a punt but that's hardly realistic is it?
