The Alonso Thread - hands in transfer request

Disappointed that he's leaving. I suppose Rafa's pursuit of GB paved the way.......  Anyway goodluck Xabi, and thanks for the good times, however RM will not win anything, at least for the first season or or two.

Oh by the way, see you in the CL final, where LFC will win their 6th, and next season we'll win our 19th. Oh well, you should have stayed.......

Defour? Aquillani? Poulsen? Brilliant, I can't wait  :(

i no what u mean mate, im not very confident with what Rafa will do with the money, got a bad feeling he will blow it on someone average.

Where do you get that feeling from  ???

Besides Cavalieri, Bellamy, Degen, Gonzales, Lucas, Pennant, Babel, Voronin, Keane, Dossena and about 25 others i'd say he got his transfers pretty spot on ...

There have been lots and lots of poor signings i agree. However when it comes to centre midfielders he has done well....Lucas aside  :D

What annoys me is for the benefit of the club he should have given his request earlier.. Its left us in a big of a sticky situation. Not long left now for the season to kick off and were short in a few areas. Still have not sorted out our main priority of getting an attacking player.

That makes me believe they wont(just cause you said it)lol..the club will probably implode by way of internal politics about Xmas and sell half the players they have signed in January!

All good things come to those who wait....Madrid dont do waiting, that is their downfall...no patience!

A long season ahead..they will probably go through 3 managers!(joke)

GYBS you are scatter-gunning this thread again mate with your one-liners.

I have nothing against Xabi for going.

People who think he should prefer to stay with us rather than go to Real are living in cloudcuckooland.

Aye Rafa with his fingers in his ears repeating 35 million untill he got what he wanted.
Real putting that decreased bid of 24mill last week when the transfer request went in didnt work.

Could have give us one more season atleast. Only blessing is the amount of money recieved for him need to bring in a world class player to ease the blow.

Im fuming not hurt.

Rubbish.

Our team is far weaker without Xabi in it and he can leave with his head held high. There is no-one we can buy with that money who will walk into the team and be as effective as he was last season. He was a great player for us and a great professional. I loved his work ethic, intelligence and skill. I'm gutted he's gone but I thank him for being a great servant to our club.

Well whether it's 27 mill as they're claiming in Madrid, or 30 mill as they're claiming over here, or indeed anywhere near either figure it's good money for a player of Xabi's age and ability I reckon. I had him down a few weeks back as worth between 25-27 based on last seasons form and the transfer market today, so we've definately done well financially. The one concern is the amount of time it's draggrd on, and the fact that regardless of who we sign as a replacement isn't going to have very long to aclimatise (unless it's Scott Parker  :;): ).

I think in Madrids team, in the Spanish League, playing in the pocket Xabi will be a fantastic signing for them too so they've got a deal out of it as well. It also appears that this fella Purslow has done a good job on negotiating the deal, much better than fecking Parry  so fair play to him for that.
