The lad may well be a good player and I won't pretend I've watched him regularly because Serie A bores the sh.it out of me, but the facts are he has a bad injury record and is coming from a league where players are notoriously hit and miss in terms of adapting to a completely different style of football. Surely for 18 million we could do better (Sneijder for a start).
Aquilani and Sneijder are being sold at the same price. I know which one I'd take. And it's not the Italian.
I wonder if Sneijder would have come to us? - Or if he didn't want to move to England?
I just think Aquilani has a real injury concerns and the fact that Roma's fans are celebrating his departure shows something.

Some of his goals look good on youtube mate, but he's been at Roma his whole career (bar one loan stint when he was a young player) and at 26 years of age has only scored 9 goals for Roma. Whats that? Less than 2 a season? Hardly prolific.
More exactly, 2002-2009 he's made only 102 appearances (injury problems) and scored 9 goals.
I assume he's not being bought for his goals, but I honestly haven't seen enough on him to comment on the rest of his game.
I also note he's now a Liverpool player on his Wikipedia page

I've seen details of quality in Snejder, but I haven't seen them consistently, AND, IMHO, we have a certain Gerrard who's the best at what Snejder does best.
If you ask me, what's stronger, a Snejder-Mascherano-Gerrard triangle, or a Lucas-mascherano-Gerrard triangle, then it's the former, in that sense that would be a good move for the club. But it concerns me a lot what happens when we won't have Mascherano available, and that's why I'd like a Hammanesque signing for the position.
Aquilani? I know fúck all about him. But his injury record is worrying.
Anyway, In rafa I trust, I won't get nervous until I see the player playing poorly 6 games. Or alternatively I won't get nervous until I see he doesn't play, like Degen.
But what i am saying is i don't think he is the absolute world beater he is made out to be.
