Rafa Benitez is right to get all Godfather with Real Madrid over Xabi Alonso By Brian Reade 25/07/2009
Real Madrid's sporting director Miguel Pardeza is livid.
He "cannot understand" why Liverpool are asking £35million or "more than we are willing to pay" for Xavi Alonso.
Well, it might just be that Alonso has years left on his contract. Or that Real have distorted transfer fees out of all proportion, are desperate to sign a top Spanish player and Pardeza himself admits there is no one else on the market with Alonso's playmaking skills.
But I'd like to think Rafa Benitez might deliver Senator Pat Geary's speech from Godfather II, when Michael Corleone asked why his family should have to pay more than they want to in a deal.
Because I intend to squeeze you. I don't like your kind of people. I don't like to see you come here with your oily hair, dressed up in those silk suits, trying to pass yourselves off as decent. I'll do business with you, but the fact is I despise your masquerade, the dishonest way you pose yourself and your whole freakin' family."
If so, he'll speak for everyone in football.

Not that he had a problem with the fans last year but if he stayed with us can you really see him signing a new contract next summer? I can't so he would probably be even more eager to look for the exit door then. Real will probably end up meeting the valuation somehow if not by cash only.

If he wants to go he can go..its his loss!
But it will have to be on our terms,no way should Rafa let them bas'tards rip us off. They inflated the market with their OTT signings when the window opened so if they think they are being ripped off the only have themselves to blame!
I hate the arrogant shower of kunts with a passsion.
Rafa needs to be careful though,if Alonso has his mind made up its inevitable he will leave..we cant really hold a player against his will, contracted or not!
Im just worried about the time factor....Alonso staying for now then those feckers coming in with a bid on the 11th hour and Rafa knowing he has to accept because the player does not wanna be here and their relationship will be nothing if he refuses to let him go!
Then we could be left short.....I guess thats the worst case scenario though!
I trust Rafa knows what he is at!

Well I just hope Rafa doesn't wake up in a brothel with the blood of a dead prostitute all over him.

Rafa Benitez today revealed he has told Xabi Alonso that he should stay at Liverpool.
Alonso received a rapturous ovation from the Singapore fans as he watched the Reds train on Friday night.
"I was talking to him yesterday and telling him to listen to the fans. They love Xabi," Benitez told Liverpoolfc.tv.
"I said to him, 'Maybe you have to stay.'
"You can see he is a really good player and I'll be really pleased if he stays. All the players and his teammates want him to stay. If we keep Xabi I will be very pleased."
