Here you , what are you goin on about with that, Show some respect lad , hes been nothing but a gent on an off the pitch for 5 years, Hes still our player , an even if a when he does go , i will still hold him in high esteem,an if he does come back to Anfield with them lot , im sure youll find he will recieve a great reception , not Madrid but him, When all the carry on was going on last season he never said a bad word, about us or Rafa so to me that makes him a gent imo So nevermind this :censored: Xabi lark

Spot on Nanny.

Alonso has been here 5 years and he’s always given his all. This time last year, just as the lad was getting home from his holidays, and just after he had said he was happy to be a red, Rafa was trying to get rid of him.

Rafa touted the lad all round Europe and we would have sold him to ARSENAL if they had stumped the cash. Understandably, the lad probably doesn’t see eye to eye with Rafa anymore. If goes i will wish him luck because he’s a legend and a great player. I really hope he stays, and seeing people write f&&k Alonso are talking sh!te.

Yeah Bav but some of those kit pics get taken March/April so there is no real indication through them

Still if someone is to be the face (or part of) of a campaign you would think that they plan on sticking around? Maybe it was just me. :( If he goes he goes, but we need to get it sorted soon so we don't suffer in being able to bring someone in. I don't want Rafa to have to get a hurried signing who may not be as good all becasue fecking Madrid took their sweet time.

I wouldn't worry cos Rafa is always well prepared for everything he will have narrowed his main targets down should Alonso leave and need replacing

According to my Uncle Alberto the deal is done and Xabi Alonso will be in Madrid on Sunday. The final price 37M € ----> 33.98M pounds

Well, I'm quite dissapointed with Xabi. :( Let's see how accurate is Uncle Alberto now.

Madrid close in on £32M Alonso

    *

By David Maddock, , 17/07/2009

Football Spy

By DAVID MADDOCK REAL MADRID believe they will finally get their man when they return with an improved offer for Xabi Alonso this weekend.

The Mirror understands that the Spanish giants have reopened talks with Liverpool and are ready to increase their bid to around £32million.

Alonso wants the deal concluded before he is due to return to Anfield on Sunday, prompting both parties to intensify negotiations.

Madrid previously offered £22m for the Spanish midfielder and were reluctant to go beyond that figure for a player priced at just £15m last summer.

But the deal has been resurrected after Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez indicated he would be willing to listen to proposals that would give him £22m cash, plus a player in part-exchange. Even though Spurs are close to agreeing a deal for young Real striker Alvaro Negredo, the Bernabeu club have offered him as part of their Alonso proposals, along with Dutch international midfielder Wesley Sneijder.

Benitez will do business if he believes that either player is priced at the right level, giving him the £35m which he believes reflects Alonso's current worth.

The Anfield boss won't accept anything less because he knows how costly it will be to replace the Spaniard in his midfield engine room.

Benitez wants to make a significant profit in replacing Alonso, to allow him to pursue Valencia winger David Silva.

With transfer activity gathering pace at Anfield, insiders within the club suggest that if a deal can be concluded to sell Alonso at the right price over the weekend, the club will try to wrap up a £20m deal for Silva next week.

Talks have been ongoing for some months, but the player has now returned from a holiday and it is thought a fee could be thrashed out in the early part of next week allowing Silva to sign by Wednesday.

Alot of good news in that piece if its true... would mean we'd have Sneijder, Negredo and Silva by next week with Alonso gone... good stuff if you ask me...
Sad to see Alonso go but its what he wants and he isnt to be blamed.... all the best Xabi, hope you maintain last seasons form and be a big player for them...

Well nor happy he is going but I am happy that they are at least now willing to pay what Rafa wants. The deal though is surpey not 22m plus both Negredo and Sneijder is it? If we are going to get Silva then do we really need Sneijder too?

Anyway I hope this is indeed concluded before the weeks end.

What does Sneijder have to do with Silva ? I think Silva will mostly be played down the left with Riera as backup.. Babel will probably fill in when we desperately need someone either upfront or in any of the 3 positions behind...
Would still leave us a man short in the middle with Alonso leaving which is where Sneijder comes in if im not mistaken...
Still think we need one more man down the middle besides Sneijder .. Someone who would play a little deeper maybe but Sneijder would make a good buy nonetheless... he could cover for Kuyt if his goals dry up or for Gerrard if hes unavailable or is being rested...

What i dont get though is why we're holding on to Dossena, Babel and Voronin .... surely the 3 of them can bring in around 20mill or so in transfer funds and all 3 would have 2 players ahead of them in their position if things go as reported...
maybe Rafas just waiting to conclude the deals for players coming in first before selling anyone... to be sure, to be sure...

I might have a few extra details in some minutes as Uncle Alberto says Xabi's dad might come to the traffic department.

Yes, 34M pounds is good if you consider that's probably the biggest money a big club like Liverpool have received in their history, but it worries me what we'll be able to do with it. In Rafa and Purslow I trust though.

34M seems a lot, considering Beckham was bought for less than that only in 2003!!! but football market doesn't follow normal parameters. I don't know when this money bubble will explode but it seems only growing, and what seemed an indecent quantity in 2003, it's not the biggest money now.

At least this Purslow has earned the respect of Real Madrid footballing world, he has apparently been the main negotiator and he's tough at that. And at least the times in which great players of Liverpool go in the cheap are over, which is important.

I think at that sort of money it's a fantastic deal, and whoever is responsible for getting that much out of them, be it this Purslow bloke or Rafa deserves the utmost credit. Thank God nobody stumped up the asking price last Summer. I"ve said before that Rafa has the gift of being a lucky manager, and just like a lucky general it's a priceless attribute.

I've no idea who this Negredo bloke is so there's point me commenting on him, while Wesley Snijder has looked like a good player whenever i've seen him. Whether either will adapt to the Premier League remains to be seen, and of course the same goes for Silva.

Interestingly, David Silva if he signs could become the new seasons "rotation" with seemingly everyone bar a few doubters absolutely convinced he'll be a huge hit. Needless to say and shockingly predictably, I think he'll disappear without trace so it'll be fun to find out one way or another. It's just what the forum needs is a bit of good old football banter again, and I really hope the little fella signs.

Xabi's dad didn't come but his bezzie did, I have made him some questions, and trust me, I don't like it because it doesn't go well with my "Pro" beliefs. I wish this bezzie was talking bóllocks, but I'm afraid he's not.

I've asked him: "So, what was the problem, that he wanted to sell him last summer? the incident with his son birth?"

Answer: "No, that was just the drop that stretched the limit (you'd say that expression of the straw and the camel)"

"The problem is that Rafa's personality is very especial, he's always eating the ear" (A expression we use when someone is too insisting, to the point of tiresome).

He has said aswell "Xabi isn't too happy with the squad at the moment, there are only a few left from the squad which won the CL", by this he was implying Xabi was not too happy with the constant renewal of the squad Liverpool have suffered.

Question: "What about the club and team mates, any problem?"

Answer: "No, he's just fed up of Rafa, he loves how the club and the fans have treated him". Apparently the captain Gerrard have tried to convince Alonso and have said that "you can't go the team needs you", but Alonso is too fed up.

The things being like this, I guess this is a very good sum, but I think that if Alonso had been a little bit more patient and thought of the club a bit more we could have ripped them off even further.  :(

HAHAHA.. seems like the Ibrahimovic to Barcelona deal is done...
Fckin hell they paid 40mill Euros + Etoo + Hleb (1year loan)....
Still a good buy for Barcelona even though the price seems a little over the top but the guys is worth it...
Thats another one we'll see about i guess since most here dont seem to rate the guy.... Barcelona obviously do...

sorry to take this off track but yea... seems like Mascherano is staying too... he's back with the lads in Switzerland and Rafa doesnt want to sell him and im thinking Barcelona gave up on him if they decided to splash the cash on Ibra..
