He has been good the games I have seen him play recently, The thing I like about him is how many balls he manages to get into the box and the amount of times he manages to pick out a player when there are defenders around them.
Would be perfect for us in those games where people come to Anfield and player 10 in defense.

if we really do sell xabi and manage to buy silva how do you think rafa will play? I reckon he might just try silva as a support striker and move stevie back to CM...

If we want Silva or Villa or someone else of similar quality we'll pay more than we get for Xabi - just watch.

I believe Villa is out of the question... but silva might not me much more expensive than what we get for xabi...

Valencia wanted 25 million for silva , if we get 35 million for xabi , we'd still have the 10 million for a wide man/2nd striker depending where rafa wants to play silva , i would think on the left with yossi play as a support striker or maybe even in the middle as he won't break up the stevie-torres partnership unless its really a top top player we sign like eto? :;):

If Alonso goes (which now seems more likely than not) then we need to try and get Negredo as part of any deal, he's a different type of striker to what we have.  I'd use the rest of the money from the deal to go for Silva and I think we could raise enough from the sales of Arbeloa and a few squad guys for the 10 mil or so Martinez would cost to replace Alonso.

I've said before that one or two big signings this summer and keep what we have is the best option, but I've changed my mind now.  The one 'big' signing we've made doesn't convince me and if Alonso goes we lose part of our spine and have to reshape the team.

Don't like the sound of Aquilani/De Rossi as replacements for Xabi, not that I've seen a lot of them, but purely bacause I don't rate Italian football at the moment and players coming from there to the Premiership generally don't do well (with exceptions of course - Zola, Desailly etc)

One thing is for sure, if Xabi goes I expect Benitez will make the right choice to replace him, he has a good record for buying centre mids - Alonso himself, Sissoko, Mascherano were all good buys.  The jury's still out on Lucas I suppose.

Well he's probably twittering b0ll0cks, but the fella is quite convincing I must admit. Don't know about the Villa/Silva for 40 million quid plus Riera and Voronin though, that does sound like b0ll0cks.

Have you ever seen Negredo play John ? I haven't , but I must admit that his stats look decent. I would prefer Huntelaar myself (who I have seen play) but who admittedly might not flurish in the lone striker role.

But they are not going to throw him in as any part of a deal Saint unless they drastically reduce the money they are offering

Was reading in the dutch newspaper today that Ajax get 7 million if he is sold, clubs are interested but only Stuttgard have enquired about him, he did not travel to Ireland neither did the others who are on the transfer list, Snijder, Van Der Vaart etc.
