Australian soccer ace Harry Kewell is reportedly set to become one of the world's richest sportsmen after signing a deal with adidas for an undisclosed amount of money.
The long-term sponsorship contract - the most lucrative for an individual in a team sport in Australian history, according to Sydney's Sun-Herald - guarantees the Liverpool star a percentage of the sporting giant's global boot sales.
Kewell, who celebrates his 26th birthday on Wednesday, has had a significant input with boot design at adidas, a factor that swayed the Sydney-born midfielder away from deals with Nike and Reebok, the newspaper reports.
Kewell's manager Bernie Mandic said the deal was worth "millions of dollars".
"Harry's wealth was estimated recently at $35 million," the newspaper quotes Mandic.
"Well, I can say that this deal will add a lot to that."
"No team sportsman in Australia has signed a bigger endorsement."
