A journo that knows about inner Real Madrid things mentioned that this year they're finding a pretty stubborn Rafa who doesn't want to get rid of Xabi.

The journo says, in a marca column, that last season the negotiations were with Rick Parry, who set a price of 27M if Alonso was going to be gone. I repeat the sum, 27M by Parry.

It would explain, if that was what the club asked, why Arsenal or others didn't make the effort of going from a 14M offer, to a 17M. It always sounded strange to me that for that sum they would refuse to get one of his targets.

The journo writes that the negotiations will be tough, that they can't think of getting him for less than 27, that players like Negredo are going to be offered as part of the deal to get that price lower, but the contacts just have started.

So I'm calm. Because it all seems to indicate that either Xabi stays, which would be fantastic, or the offer is going to be too god to refuse.

Sabre, I wouldn't be happy if alonso goes even for 27 million... unless maybe that money helps to bring in both Tevez and Silva... that means that Gerrard will be going back to CM...

id sell Xabi for 35mill, hell id force him out the club for 35mill if i was Rafa... Fck me but thats a lot of money and surely Xabi isnt worth all that much... would have taken the 25mill myself but yea... 35 mill doesnt sound too bad...

If its true we should be signing atleast 2 top players plus backup for our other positions ... sell a couple of useless players (Babel, Voronin, Dossena, Degen, Itnadje, Leto, the kids we dot use) and add the money we get from the owners (from the keane deal and so) and we should have more than enough to be getting a few big players in....

You don't sell your best players if you want to win trophies . Clubs now that milan now have money from the kaka sale and any player they are interested in , their value will deffo rise . If we sell xabi for 35 , you can add another 5 to 8 million for any player we want to buy as well . Anyways after the season he has just had , why would we even consider a bid for him . Stevie , xabi , torres , reina , masch , carra are the core of the team and we shouldn't be entertaining any bids for them UNLESS its silly money like city are willing to pay , even than i think rafa will think twice . £35m for Alonso, I'd take that. I'm sure we can find a great replacement for around £25m and spend the other 10 elsewhere. Granted, he's been fantastic this year but the years before he was well off form. £35m is like robbing them, throw Huntelaar in there n all and they've got a deal
