what i did not like was the banner on SKY Sports News that said " Xabi Alonso set to leave Liverpool for Real Madrid"

it is like the deal has been done and we dont even know about it, they only spoke about it for a bit but from what i understand nothing has changed.

i think its from that guy that was on there the other night, not sure of his name but he had the inside track on all the Real Madrid deals.......he dont seem to be getting much right and lets hope he is wrong again.

they never seem to get much right these days . im starting ignore most off it . this time last week we were definatley getting Barry and looked what happened - they are all trying to make a name for themselves .

Its all getting a bit silly now with money in football, soon there will be only 4 teams in the world that can beat each other due to them holding and buying all the best players.

It started getting silly the minute Zidane and Figo went for big money then chelsea arrived on the scene with Abramovich - now Man City .

If Alonso was gonna go or even looked like he might go SURELY we would have moved for Barry, surely? That is what gives me hope that this isn't gonna transpire. It would (in my eyes) be utter lunacy to let Alonso go having not taken the opportunity to pursue our biggest transfer target of last year just a few days ago when he was available at £6 million cheaper.

Like him or not, Barry was a ready made replacement for Alonso. Similar and different but he would have come in and done a similar job. If Alonso goes we really have missed a trick here.

Dont think he is actually a bad option to come off the bench - the player is not bad at all .

I actually quite like him but he doesn't exactly get the pulse racing does he! From Tevez to Tuncay in one week! It could be a long summer...

I'd be happy to see the link with Distin transpire though. Good player, especially at the price being talked about.

Tuncay gives you options of the bench all across the front line and was the only boro player who at least looked like he wanted to work his ar.se off to keep the team up.
