If you don't like what Dave U says have a go at Dave , not the poor newbie that just quoted him

Dave gets a lot of insider info, but I don't think he has in this case .......more like an educated guess imo.

If we get Tevez out of the deal ......I can live with it anyway.

Its also no secret that Dave Usher hates Rafa with a passion, he really hates him. Ok he has got things right in the past but I am baring in mind his hatred for the gaffer.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

lets not forget though rafa did try and fire alonso off last season, only for alonso to show what a massive mistake that could have been, although even that is questionable as we still won feck all  :D   maybe if alonso had gone barry would have won us the league   :D

its a mystery, maybe we will perform better without alonso, maybe a midfielder who chips in with more goals, but alonso is class, there is no doubting that and will be a massive asset wherever he goes.

Alonso is a class act, and he take most of the credit for team improvement for this season, we have missed him for the previous season to bad injuries, and the team suffered badly because of that.

Most the top clubs in the whole of Europe & UK are after him, and this is just an indication on how vital he is to any team sit-up,  and it will be a fatal mistake for Rafa to sell him, he will struggle badly to replace him. Alonzo’s case is not like Keane’s case, where we have managed somehow get away with it,  it did not effect us that much.

Barry is not half the player when you try to compare him to the master Alonso.

GOOD NEWS !!!!!!!!!

Arsenal are considering a £12 million move for Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry.

29 May 2009

According to the Star, Barry is holding out for a summer move to the Emirates as he seeks regular Champions League football.

Liverpool are also known to be in the hunt, having attempted to sign the England international last summer, but it is reportedly Arsenal who Barry has set his sights on joining.

Aston Villa will allow Gareth Barry to leave if Champions League bid failsAston Villa manager Martin O'Neill wants Barry to see out the remaining year of his contract at Villa Park, thereby allowing him to leave on a free next summer.

However, the newspaper claims Barry believes he has been loyal enough to Villa by staying an extra season, when he could have switched to Anfield last year, and wants to move to one of the 'Big Four' clubs while he is still in his prime.

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is likely to be monitoring the situation closely, but has supposedly turned his attentions towards signing Carlos Tevez, meaning Arsenal's only competition for Barry will come from Manchester City or Tottenham.

Arsene Wenger see Barry, 28, as the ideal player to add some necessary strength and bite to his midfield, very much in the mould of Patrick Vieira or Emmanuel Petit.

Following the departure of Mathieu Flamini to AC Milan, Arsenal have occasionally looked light-weight in the middle of the park, a problem that would be solved by Barry, and Wenger has had the player watched several times in the past few months.

I'd be on a hiding to nothing, as what people say in public and what is happening in private are often completely different. I could post what I've heard, and then Rafa or Xabi could make some statement that contradicts it (not because they're telling the truth, but because it's all part of the games that are being played).

Who are people going to believe? I'm not prepared to spend the whole summer in arguments on here and being ripped to shreds on other forums. I believe Xabi has played his last game for us, I'd dearly love to be proved wrong but we'll see."

Cue Twilight Zone music  ??? and yet another seriously disturbed individual enters the fray   :upside:

Those are not my words, in case you haven't noticed, I'm quoting someone else.

My mistake fella ,my apologies I jumped in feet first ...

I think if Rafa has a clear picture of what his priority is. If indeed Tevez is his main priority, the fact that not going after Barry means most like Alonso will stay. Good news indeed. Hope we could score even more goals next season.

I hate to be a wet blanket but Alonso will leave. His signing for Real Madrid is a clamour in Spain. Probably the next week will be presented as new Madrid player. The prize around 23 -27 millions.
