True, but Wenger is famous for seeing somethinbg in a player, something which can be improved upon in order to make the player a different proposition entirely to what he has been previously. Perhaps he remembers the premium form which Alonso showed in his first eighteen months BEFORE the opposition centre forward was able to nullify his talents and thinks "Sacre bleu, if I can get him to come out of the pocket I can make heem great again". If, and it's still an if, there is interest from Arsenal this is what A.rsehole Whinger has in mind I should think   :;):  :buttrock

I don't normally go in for the changing of names thing, but me old man who is a cockney, born and bred Tottenham fan ALWAYS refers to wenger in this way (he can't stand his guts needless to say lol) and it just kind of sticks after a while.

BTW, he says he's glad we bought Keane cos they mugged us on the price totally  :D

Just kidding bigmick :D

Interestingly enough, Toshack who is our mentor to explain to the basques what's going on in Liverpool, and who gives stick to Rafa whenever he can, hasn't found the Keane signing as a robbery.

He says that Rafa has spent 54M € in players, and that he keeps spending a lot, and that this year for instance he has signed Keane, "a very good player that might help the team to challenge for the title they want since 1990 and a possible perfect companion for Torres", and 4 players who he knows nothing about them. So even if the gist of the sentence was to give stick, he did make an exception to talk about Keane's signing. And Toshack can be discussed about stubborness of his tactics and methods, but no-one can discuss he has a very good eye to know what a team requires. Reading him was encouraging, despite the stick, because he really seems to think we might challenge this year.

You would have to question selling alonso to Arsenal even if they came up with the asking price. He'd be a fuc..king devastating player in that Arsenal side. But then the same applies to Barry but Wenger/Arsenal are the biggest skinflints around when it comes to spending a bit of money. I don't know why they haven't bitten the bullet and paid the money for Barry. Either Barry or Alsonso would be a massive upgrade on the departed Gilberto and Flamini.

Different players I think - certainly Flamini, who is very mobile in comparison to Alonso/Barry. I thought he was fantastic for them last season. It's difficult to say how a player like Barry, and even more so - Alonso, would fair in that Arsenal team. I think with Alonso they'd be a more varied threat given the passing ability he possesses, but at the same time they'd have to be slightly more cautious about losing possession when they're in 'relentlessly attack' mode, perhaps playing a higher line (to prevent him being exposed), which has its risks against certain teams/players.

Wenger says he´s not interested in Barry - is that because he has a deal with Rafa for Alonso?  Another little ditty to throw into the pot. ???

I would probably be willing to do a deal of £10million + Walcott for Alonso.

Is it not concievable that we may keep Alonso as well as Barry??? We are going into the season with CM options of Gerrard, Alonso, Barry (cos we all know he'll sign) and Plessis. Lucas and Mascha are away to the Olympics and I don't think Spearing is quite ready yet (although I liked what I saw against the huns...I mean Rangers :) )

If we sell Alonso does that not leave us a little exposed early season?? I'd keep Alonso, tell Arsene Wenger to f*ck off, sign Barry and when Lucas and Mascha return from Olympics I'd farm Plessis and maybe Lucas to another club to gain valuable experience.
