I agree with you I don't think 12 M pound is enough for Benitez. But in the news, "12 M pound-plus deal has been agreed" was said. My information is 15 million pound will be paid to Liverpool but this news says "12 million-plus". May be 12 M pound will be paid cash and the rest will be paid next year. I don't know about the payment schedule, just a thougt.

4,5 m € was been paid to Newcastle for Emre Belozoglu and Appiah is free now, he is not a player of Fenerbahçe. He have been disabled more than a year.

I think its a fair deal as i think xabi is worth somewhere in the 15 million or some region even though he was not that player he was in his first season , i heard madrid were willing to offer over 20 million for him a while back and even add ruben de la red into the deal .

Liverpool's board is urging manager Rafa Benitez to rethink his intentions to cash in on midfielder Xabi Alonso.
The Spanish midfield ace had been told he was surplus to requirements and could talk to other clubs. But that was when Benitez was confident of signing Barry, 27. Joint owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett had backed Benitez in his bid for the England ace.
But the Yanks want further talks on the merits of keeping Alonso instead.

Well choose what you want to believe even though the source is not that reliable , this decision could be rafa's , it could be the owner's or a joint decision as rafa may not get as much funds as he wants to bring in his targets thus he might have to sell xabi and bring in his replacement .

I would find that very strange if its true mate. Who would know better the merits of keeping or selling Alonso than Rafa?

Maybe from the monetary point of view Parry, Hicks and Gillett have some similar concerns to the ones expressed on here, but if Rafa thinks we need Barry I think they should back him.

Why would Xabi go to Fenerbache ? far too good a player for them - if he does leave then will be back to spain - cant see him ending up in turkey .

Yes. Xabi did accept the offer. LFC had accepted anyway. You get ready for Barry, and FB gets ready for XABI. Smart move not to use Xabi in trade with Barry.

FB is relentless about being hush hush on their transfers. Fans are not happy about this either.

xabi is top class if we sell him it will be a step in the wrong direction

im all for offloading players that arent first team standard but selling a player of alonsos class to bring in barry is like swopping a tenner for 2 fivers, there might be a few advantages but really u aint no richer
