this was reported on Fenerbaches official website on monday, the link is

http://www.fenerbahceworldwide.org/view...._Alonso

and this is what it says..

Rumors began to surface in recent days that Fenerbahçe were interested in Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso after the departure of Mehmet Aurelio.  Now, a Spanish report on Monday states the club is offering a hefty sum for the Spanish star.

Italian club Juventus were long rumored to be interested in signing Xabi Alonso from Liverpool.  They recently acquired Danish midfielder Christian Poulsen from Sevilla however, likely eliminating them from the Alonso race.  As a result, a Spanish newspaper states that Fenerbahçe have become the favorites to sign Alonso.

According to Spanish newspaper AS, Fenerbahçe are offering 20 million euros to Liverpool for the midfielder.  The newspaper states that Juventus are also no longer interested and that a move to Fener appears more likely.  AS reports that after signing Dani Güiza, Xabi Alonso has become the number one target for new coach Luis Aragones.  Fenerbahçe are looking for a replacement for midfielder Mehmet Aurelio, who recently signed with Spain's Real Betis.

Stay with Fenerbahçe Worldwide for more on the Xabi Alonso situation.

Of course Igor.

The article says that Arsenal is ready to pay something in the region of 14M pounds for Xabi, and the article goes as far as saying that Ibañez, Alonso's agent, is already in talks with Arsenal. According to that journo, Xabi's well aware of this interest and doesn't dislike the idea.

The article explains this situation as a fall out between Xabi and Rafa that led to a point of no return. The source of all this, always according to publico, was the refusal of Alonso to go to Milan, and the article remembers a Rafa's quote the one of "we can't wait for a player".

Dunno Igor mate, Publico is a relatively new paper that I don't know well but they seem to tackle the news always with a controversial touch. No quotes there, so I wouldn't take that too seriously.

It would be interesting to know though whether Rafa would allow Alonso going to Arsenal.

Alonso will undoubtedly be linked with every club under the sun by the journos now that Juventus have looked elsewhere and given that we still seem strapped for cash.  I expect these Fenerbahce and Arsenal rumours to be merely the tip of the iceberg.  I mean it's not rocket science to make this stuff up is it?  'Aragones is going to Turkey, so let's just start a whisper campaign that Alonso will follow him there.'  Or, 'Fabregas and Alonso played well together at the Euros so let's link him with an Arsenal move.'  I fully expect there will be at least one rumour in the next day or two linking him with a move to Spurs.  For one, there's the Spanish connection with Ramos and for two, there's the fact that we're looking to bring Keane the other way.  Watch this space. :D

I rest my case

In regards to alonso leaving i hope not i feel he could play a vital role this season in league and no way i want him to go to another prem side that would be sickning.

I just hope rafa plays him in more attacking role after what i seen from in euros he could be a force agian if played more agressive.

I very much doubt it mate, only if he's BLOODY stupid. Alonso would be a beast in that Arsenal side with the way they pass the ball  :(

Just keep the lad and go out and buy Keane, Arshavin (still dreaming) or Silva. I was fairly happy to see Barry come in but this whole thing has dragged onto the point where i'm fed up of reading about it.
