I hope too Riise.

For me it was an error to sell us Sissoko in january.

It will be an even bigger error selling Alonso now, Id like to know who is behind this decision cause its a sh!t one. :no

I thnk you'll find it is one Senor Benitez...

I don't get this, sell Alonso and buy Barry???  The mind boggles.

Like John 'Jerry' Craig said,

We shouldnt be billing up Alonso as a magnificient performer for us, he hasnt been at the races for a while now.

Some people are acting like we're selling the best player to ever grace Anfield.

Possibly.

In the other hand we have that other brigade that seems to be almost as happy as when Morientes left  :D

Personally, I'll be content or unhappy depending on what they pay for him, and what we do with that money.

That's my "unbiased" thinking. Apart from that I'm a bit sad of course. Xabi Alonso is from my town and I like him to play in my town's club or if that's not possible, in Liverpool. The transfer from RS to Liverpool wasn't painful, this will.

Juventino:: Xabi Alonso e eccezionale,  :) Congratulazioni

I'd like him to stay if he could perform on a consistant basis similar to what he did in his first season.#

Football is business and its about whats better for Liverpool, I agree the 12 million is to cheap and finacially is bad.

From Xabis viewpoint I think his game will flourish more over there. If hr goes I wish him the best of luck, he has been a true proffessional and the memories in all will be fond.

The problem isn't Xabi leaving. It's who we are replacing him with Gareth Barry probably who is going to cost more than Alonso.

We're selling a really good player who has been a one of the cogs in our machine and replacing him with an inferior player for, someone who is going to cost more.

And all this while we still haven't touched on the fact that  we need two world class wingers, another striker and another full back.  Instead we go messing around with the central midfield that isnt broken and ignore our problem areas once again.

I just cannot understand this transfer.

exactly..

Rafa has lost it.. again!

I've been leaning over to the side that says Rafa isn't all that more and more, and this decision just adds more weight to the augument.

He frustrates me, for every stroke of genius there is a stroke of madness

I want to know if he is being forced to sell, I am sure Alonso is one of rafas favs, so if them pair of b@stards are forcing him to sell to buy they should feck off a.s.a.p.

This is bollox, I want 30m for Alonso :no

and if that happens, I'll carry him to spain or italy s@int :D

Seriously, Ill say it again it would be a huge mistake by selling alonso, but I really hope Lucas ease our fears next season and turn out to be better than him.

A 38 page, fully referenced essay on why the club will implode if we sell Alonso, complete with mathematical proofs.  I got it posted and then realized that I forgot to carry the 5 in equation 17(d).  I was then overwhelmed with a crushing sense of ennui and decided that I'd rather make a sandwich.

Looks like Rafa has been forced to Rob Peter to pay Paul! :nod

ALONSO MASTERCLASS

Incredible range of passing and control, but look at how much time and space he had. When was the last time Alonso was free so often?
