FORMER Liverpool FC striker Stan Collymore is calling on Steven Gerrard to leave Anfield "in search of the Premier League".

Collymore believes the Reds ace will never win the ultimate goal while with Liverpool and he says many players in the current squad are not good enough to play alongside Gerrard.

"It's time for Steven Gerrard to put his loyalty to Liverpool to one side and go in search of the one honour that has eluded him - the Premier League," he writes in his latest column for MirrorFootball.co.uk.

"He's not going to see that day while he's wearing a red shirt and as sad as it is for me to say this as a former Liverpool player, I think it is time for him to leave Anfield.

"I was at Blackburn on Saturday and players like Lucas, Rieira and Kuyt don't deserve to play with him to be honest."

Collymore thinks Gerrard has more chance of winning a domestic title with Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona, AC Milan and Inter Milan.

He said: "I've seen him lift the European Cup and I'd love to see him lift the Premier League trophy, but it won't be as a Rafa Benitez player and I'm not sure it will ever happen for him as a Liverpool player.

Here's what you do Stanley you invite Stevie G up to Cannock, and show him what medals you have procured through your illustrious career ,show him the life of a second rate football pundit ,show him how easy it is to rest on your laurels ,show him how to criminally waste a god given talent ,show him all the various football team strips you have wore in your career as a football nomad ,then show him the tear that appears in your eye when you watch the Liverpool v Newcastle game when the Kop  once sung your name .........................................

Then you can tell him the grass is greener elsewhere ,and he will laugh in your silly face you fool     :D

He is a first class tw@t who scored one goal worth mentioning. I turn off TalkSport when he is on. Absolute no credibility at all.

I think Steven Gerrard might even be thinking that himself anyway, He knows that as long as Rafa is our manager he is not going to win the prem.

just wait till he stops playing football and see what he has to say about the last few years.

I don't agree with Collymore's suggestion for Gerrard to move to win the Preemiership but but but, I agree with the fact that there are some very ordinary players at the club and in all probability we wont win the Premiership with them.

Every prem winners have ordinary players at the club our first 11 is about as strong as the others we just lack a little depth/experience .

ive never known any ex liverpool players as bitter as collywobble.

he is a :censored:, he could have been the best player in the world that guy he had everything, except a brain.

liverpool should actually take out an injunction against him to stop him from saying anything else about liverpool, even though liverpool fans take anything he says with a pinch of salt.

he dont have to but on every birthday he knows his chances are getting smaller and with Owen in with a very good chance of getting a prem medal he will be thinking it more.

You sometimes read comments and they just reek of sensationalism.

This is one of those times, lets try and come out with a massive headline grabbing statement and see if it publicises the writer who is as poor at punditry and writing newspaper colums as he was at keeping his head together when he was well placed to be a top player.
