We never replaced Keane and there lies the problem.

This hernia thing, weather true or not might be a nice wake up call for rafa to urgently get a good backup striker.

I think he is a brilliant manager but he makes small mistakes that lead to big ones. I think spending 17.5Million on Johnson was a mistake because although I think he is a very good player and is a better rb than Arbeloa, we had right back covered for the time being. We needed a backup striker more and we still do now.

Rafa either palyed Keane as a lone striker or he palyed him out wide neither of which suited Keane's talents. To get the best out of him he should have played him up front with someone else... it isn't that diificult to see why he failed with us. The whole saga with Keane was played out very poorly by our manager.

Even odder than that, is your attempt at sarcasm where you imply that Rafa couldn't have known Torres would get injured "a year later". I aren't going to argue about that one either, because it's pointless.

Your last paragraph is hard to argue with because I'm not sure I know what you are saying. It appears that you are implying that I am the only person who thinks it might have been a mistake to get rid of him in the way we did, without having a replacement.

You truly are devoid of any semblance of a clue.

Well life is proving otherwise because I am not doing too badly  :;):   . Maybe you are not a good judge of a clue.

1. I said Ngog scores more not he is better

2. Raffa had players lined up but were not bought (even you admitted he was not supported in the transfer market)

3. Keane was not good enough, why is that hard to understand (then go to point 2.)

I suppose it is pointless to argue with me when you keep missing the point. Claiming that it is pointless to argue with me and I am clueless to discredit me and the fact you have no reply, well that is just your style now isn't it. Everyday I am proved to have a clue (once again  :;):  ) so no worries on your opinion   or others on here that fall for your backdoor diplomacy

Are you talking about idiot pundits who have no clue and just talking for the sake of it or idiot posters who have no clue just talking for the sake of it, because I couldn't tell. At least the pundits are getting paid.

Keane wasn't exactly a big contributor to the club, so I don't really get the we never replaced Robbie Keane and thats why were are terrible line. I think its more like we replaced Crouch with Keane and Keane was a bust and when we sold him the money seemed to dissapear into thin air.  Obviously the money went to SOMETHING, and if it wasn't raised in the first place, we would have had 15 or so million less to spend this summer.

There is also a major knowledge problem when critizing Rafa over the Johnson signing and "ignoring" the striking dept.  We don't know if the policy was changed on him mid-summer and if he had bugeted to sign a striker later with the leftover cash from Alonso -Aquilani profit.

We also had trouble finding buyers that weren't lowballing us for people like Dossena, Voronin, Babel, etc.

Seems Torres has a groin injury that requires rest and not a hernia according to sky ?!

SSN just says he has a sports hernia

Sports hernia

I'm not sure why everyone says he may need surgery. If it's a hernia then it doesn't heal itself. The only way it can be rectified is by surgery. It can be delayed but it all depends on how comfortable he is and there's the risk of tearing it further.

It takes about 2 months to recover from the surgery. He'll have pain just walking for the 1st month so it means that unless he can hang on until January (not likely and not worth the risk from his point of view) we'll be relying on N'Gog, Kuyt, Babel or Voronin for 2 months :O

They were reporting on Rafa's press conference. He came out with a classic quote though. Apparently they asked if he was the best man for the job and he replied:

"when you walk through a storm you have to hold your head up high" :blues:
