The Internet

Def. is a global system of interconnected computer networks that use the standardized Internet Protocol Suite (TCP/IP) to serve billions of users worldwide. It is a network of networks that consists of millions of private and public, academic, business, and government networks of local to global scope that are linked by copper wires, fiber-optic cables, wireless connections, and other technologies. The Internet carries a vast array of information resources and services, most notably the inter-linked hypertext documents of the World Wide Web (WWW) and the infrastructure to support electronic mail. In addition it supports popular services such as online chat, file transfer and file sharing, gaming, commerce, social networking, publishing, video on demand, and teleconferencing and telecommunications. Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) applications allow person-to-person communication via voice and video.

Yea, but they only put it on computers in the 80's.

The South Park episode of when the internet goes down is comedy genius.

Kyle's dad trying to watch porn on a make-shift computer with a fella showing
sketches of stick-figues having sex had me choking.

Cool and Weird FACTS on the internet

--

We all know the joke that pornography infests every part of the internet, but did you know one third of all search engine queries are specifically for porn? Think about it, for every two times you search for something on the internet there is someone out there who looks for porn!

Think spam email has really been a problem the last few years? Spam has actually been around for thirty years now! In the late 1970s a company called DEC and a marketer ahead of his time used the directory of ARPANET, the precursor to the current internet, to announce the release of a new DEC computer with ARPANET capabilities. Over 600 people received this spam and it's poor reception pushed back commercial mass emailing on the backburner for many years!
