Newcastle - I know they're not in the prem, but...

The Premiership - General Discussion

Postby 7_Kewell » Sun Aug 16, 2009 12:04 am

I can’t be the only one who got sick of Newcastle fans being labelled ‘the best fans in England’ during their time in the top flight. And with good reason, they sold out almost every week, which isn’t bad when you consider St James’ Park holds 52,387 fans.

Well today they had their first home game in the Championship and guess what, only 36,000 turned up. Best fans my :censored:.

They'll claim it's protest against the owner, but even so 36k is good for that division. They'll also mention they've been the televised evening KO both this week and last.

And four televised games this week in the Premiership feature Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool, I wonder what those four have in common........................... ???

The amount of players they lost it is a bit of a surprise they've hit the ground running in better form than they ended last season. Perhaps simply they've found their level, someone sent a message to footy chat on teletext ITV (p479) saying Aliadiere had come of age or some such claim. Truth is he might just find it easier at the lower level with less expectations and the whole side looking a bit classier than most of their opponents.
