do the adults that read childrens books not realise that they are merely simple folk who feel that because t.v told them it is okay to read children's book, it is.

They are so pathetic. What adults read teletubies, noddy, bosco etc. ALL that bull about inner child just means that you are a bit simple. Let's watch the muppet show etc

Marketing can make spasticated folk that are otherwise intelligent read childrens books.

what f*cking morons.

What's sadder? The fact that the older most people get, the more miserable they become? Or that some people do well to keep the child in themselves alive by entertaining such things like Harry Potter?

I for one liked the films. Very well made, though I don't think I'll ever read any of the books. I mean, the author is a grown adult, as are all the rest of the most famous childerens writers. What's that say for them to be able to create such things? I think it's a good thing.

Like Micheal Jackson?

He tried that and we all know how that ended

If I like something, I'm gonna do it.  I'm only going to live once, so I'll do what pleases me without really caring too much what other people think.  If that involves reading Harry Potter at the age of 40, so be it.

However, I'm young, and I still don't even like Harry Potter, just don't think everyone should be so quick to judge.

Honestly, some of your latest opinions on things lately are some of the most narow-minded views I've heard in a while.

How is someone a moron for appreciating a peice of light-hearted imaginative fiction? In that regards, you can say that the millions of adults that have read books like Narnia and The Lord of the Rings are morons too because those books were written by childrens writers also, yet are regarded as being some of the best books ever. It's entertainment, fella. Imagination is what keeps the mind youthful.

I have read them. The LoTR's books are childrens/adult books. Maybe not for really small kids, but they were written for kids in mind. The Hobbit was certainly a childrens book, then Tolkien decided to take it on further and make it somewhat darker for adults due to the success and the amount of adults that read The Hobbit. Tolkien became a writer due to the fact that he wrote stories for his kids. It's just the appeal and nature of those books that makes it somewhat acceptable for adults to read, like Harry Potter has a certain appeal to it also, where it's the setting is a fantasy world set and hidden in a real world...oh, and it's set mostly in a school, and most people can relate to that growing up as kids and kids can relate to it because they wish their own school was like that. That's the appeal. You find a common appeal, you find success.

I can understand what you mean about certain adults reading such books in public. I know I certainly wouldn't be caught dead doing it. Though if I did see someone doing it of my age, then I wouldn't think it was too odd. It's just a little insight into someone's character. Perhaps they just prefere reading fiction like that as a form of escapism. I know for sure there are more devious things a person could be doing on a train to be considered "odd". People could and do do worse.
