Maldini retires - This weekend

The legendary Paolo Maldini is retiring this weekend. What a legend, so long at the very top. I just read that his only regret is never playing alongside Diego Maradonna (I thought winning the world cup would be it).

If any player deserves a tribute, it is him. :buttrock

Amazing how long he has managed to keep playing too. You look at veterens in the premiership, Hyppia, Giggs ect...Maldini has still managed to play on for years more and at the top level.
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.

best defender in the history of the game ?
If he had won the world cup with Italy it would have been indisputable to me...

He even has 2 sons, Christian & Daniel in the Milan Youth team to carry on the legacy.
His no. 3 shirt is retired, to be worn again only by his son.  :bowdown

Maldini was a Great great servant to the game ,who i hope stays in it somewhere along the line ,  i used to love Baresi though. Never seen a defender read a game like him,
HE WHO BETRAYS WILL ALWAYS WALK ALONE

Class player and to go on so long for one club is incredible.

Didnt the fans sort of snub him though in his last game because of a dispute from after they lost the champions league final to us ?

I heard they had Baresi banners in Maldinis last game.
If that is true thats shocking.

He deserved the same sort of send off we gave Sami for the years he has given that club.

Sami was a legend but Maldini is on a different level. He was in the first team from the age of 16 to 40, he was still a regular. think about it, one more season and it would be quarter of a century, and he was probably the best defender in the world for many years.

Yeah mate i know.

Am not comparing their achievements with their respective clubs, more the fans appreciation.

We showed Sami hoe much he meant.

I heard Maldini criticised the fans for their reaction when they lost to us, and they still hold it against him ?

If that is the case then they are a disgrace, he deserves every praise he gets.

LEGEND.

Legend , one of the best to ever grace the game , for me has to be the best defender i have seen possibly during my era . Reads the game so well and the best defenders rarely go to the ground for sliding tackles and he's one of them . His shirt deserves to retired as well . What a player , absolute immense
