When I say "ran into" I don't literally mean I was walking down Colombo Street in Christchurch and bumped into them Nan no. It's long been my contention, that my suspicion is that some people would speak to you kind of differently from three feet away than they would from 12,000 miles away. If I got spoke to in real life like I have on here a few times I wouldn't be sitting there trying to think of a witty response lets put it that way.

No, I meant I was happily flipping through the threads one afternooin (there's rarely people around then) and ran into three posters who just happened to be there. As it's the middle of the night over there, they'd probs had a beer or had just got in from work/out of bed and fancied a bit of a barney. All that's good, but a little like on here recently (though not directed towards me I hasten to add) it all got more than a bit over the top.

Like I say though, there was no face to face meet up or anything. When I caome back to the Uk and no doubt end up running a boozer in Sarf Landen again no doubt the lads will drop by and buy me a beer then :;):

So the mods clean the threads of WUMS, sort out requests, try to put peace (more or less succesfully but it's the thought that counts), and they're not paid for it.

When you login to read the match thread, they can't, they have to attend to those requests, questions and complains.

I ask

"This muppet needs to be banned - he is a 'racially-istcal-bigot...ist"

Has a mod to allow the kind of shít thrown at him in the last two sentences?

I can re-read the thread again and try to interpret his reasons to deliver cards, but again, isn't that kind of insult a more than valid reason to use moderation tools?

P.S. And for the record, I may disagree strongly with Bigmick in SOME football points but I'm shocked someone needs to insult a poster like him in PM. :no

Its just pure filth Sabes its disgusting. Im actualy gobsmacked i never even knew this sort of thing went on, Well you learn something new every day. Bloo.dy hell the only time i have ever pm d one of the mods an i think i can count that on one hand. and its usualy Bob to fix a link for me thats gone wrong :laugh:

VERY IMPORTANT POINT HERE.

I should point out in fairness to anybody who I've referred to, I've only ever had in my life a couple of abusive Pm's. Of the three people who I "ran into" that night, I've only ever had one dodgy Pm off of one of them, and even that wasn't really that bad. I say this to clarify as if I gave the impression that those three blokes were abusing me willynilly by Pm it wouldn't be true. All three of them have had a sustained pop at me from time to time on the forum, but not by PM.

Tempers got a bit out of hand last night and TBH I was sad to see the 3 lads suspended. I think some on here sometimes take the forum too seriously, I myself have never ever PMd a mod about someone else or giving out about a situation. Yesterday a lot of people were pissed off at the United result and then came on here. A slagging match ended up happening and a lot was said that Im pretty sure people didn't mean.

We are all going to have to have to get to grips that just because its a Liverpool forum dosent mean that we all have to like the same players, that we all should have to have the same feelings about the manager, that are loyalty to the club should be blind and we should be not question anything. At the end of the day we are all football fans and we spend half our time arguing with friends, neighbors and work colleagues about football. I don't see why this forum should be any different. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and if someone dosent agree then argue your point back as to why you don't agree just like you would with the guy down the pub. There is no need for all out war all the time.

The forum need to take the tension down a notch or two. I come on here for news about the club, debate and good craic but mainly because when the forum is good then its very good and there are a LOT of good sensible posters who make more sense in what they say then most of the journalists do in the papers!

We have had a great season and things are looking up, heres and idea - lets enjoy it!!

The way I see it is that Ace was banned for simply saying what most people have been saying for years.... that the mancs are a better team than we are.

Every time Mick , peewee , myself etc etc said that we had a good enough team to be challenging for the title, then people would come out defending Rafa by saying that our team wasn't good enough, we hadn't got enough £20million plus players, we couldn't compete with the mancs or Chelsea financially and that both Chelsea and the mancs had too many world class players for us.

Now seemingly the team has been transformed magically into a better team than the mancs or Chelsea's and anyone saying differently or questioning this FACT is obviously a manc or a WUM?

As for Heimdall and Legs', I think they have both taken a lot of "stick" and while I like and respect Ciggy, Nanny and Barry, IF Heimdall and Legs were to be banned , then so should Ciggy and Barry (possibly Nanny too?) because they were giving it out just as much if not more than Heimdall and Leg's.

As for PM's they are supposed to be private and shouldn't be posted, but if people are ashamed of what they put in them, then maybe they shouldn't have put them in a PM either. As far as I am aware however there is nothing to stop someone posting their OWN PM's or posting one on behalf of someone when a PM has been called into question?

As for biased moderation, we ALL KNOW IT GOES ON. When I was asked I turned it down BECAUSE I knew that I couldn't be impartial and unbiased, and that if it ever came to a point where I should be banning a mate ....... I WOULDN'T. Maybe some other people should have asked themselves the same question.

The mod's do a very difficult job well, but at times they get it wrong, and maybe they should be a little more willing to accept the fact and learn from their mistakes.

BTW I thought it was a penalty...... just! but I also thought that Masch was kicked and it was a free kick. If we don't win the league it won't be because the mancs got a penalty, it will be because WE threw away points earlier in the season.

Those guys that have been sinned binned have been at it for awhile now. They'll be back and I hope they tuck their heads in a bit.

When you say they've been "at it", what you mean is that they've held views contrary to the majority. I agree that Ace could expect he was going to run into some flak when he posted what he did when he did, but that's not to say the extremity of the flak was in any way justified. His point was that it isn't referees who have cost us the league title, it's us and the fact we dropped points injudiciously earlier in the season.

Now once again, many will disagree with that. Even more will say there is a time and a place for raising such an issue and this was neither, but whichever way you look at it both he and Heimdall (who's point was that we were being just as biased by claiming the refs had lost it for us as the refs were themselves) are entitled to have an opinion.

I'm not saying people aren't entitled to get wound up, annoyed, even a little bit abusive. Read the thread though, then decide.

You are no doubt right Babu, and certainly Ace picked the wrong place and time to say what he did, but I honestly don't believe it warrented a ban, certainly on the face of it anyway.

Unfortunately we sometimes see a little bit of "wolf packing" on here, which is what I think happened to Ace, and its easier to ban the ONE, than the many, no matter who is right or wrong.

If the post I actually saw from AcE was the reason he was banned, I think that was harsh. United were the better team against the spurs, and with this new found sense of confidence the title will be next to impossible to grab. Even deadly dirk admitted this

To suggest them 3 got banned just because of the other night is ridiculas.

Them pms legbarnes sent me where not from a normal person, more like a crazy madman.

The way he was talking was the end of the world he suggested that everyone was going to be wiped out of the forum, that he had spoken to the site owner. And him and his cronies will be replacing everyone.

He was going into one about the mods and how they will be replaced, what I dont understand is why I recieved them pms?

Ok I have my arguements with Heimdall but that has nothing to do with legbarnes, them pms where not from someone with a rational mind sounded a bit loopy if im honest.
